I Didn’t Mind …. Really

I didn’t mind when the packers didn’t show up this morning until almost 10:30 am.

I didn’t mind spending $11.50 on two dozen donuts for them for breakfast.

I didn’t mind when they’d only been here an hour and then all five of them took a smoke break at the same time.

I didn’t mind that an hour later, they took a lunch break.

I didn’t mind spending $58.72 buying sub sandwiches and chips for all of them for lunch.

I didn’t mind that they packed all our dirty clothes in boxes, never mind that I specifically asked them NOT to unhook the washer and dryer just yet, and what exactly did they think I was going to use them *for*???? But I didn’t mind, truly.

I didn’t even mind when they quit working for the day at 3pm. After all, they’ve been allotted three days to pack, and the movers aren’t coming until Friday, so it’s not like we’re in a big hurry. Honestly, I didn’t mind.

But when they packed up every roll of toilet paper in the house and taped them all shut in boxes? Knowing we were staying here until Friday????

THAT -- I minded.

OMG! I have moved twice and that one is the best story I've heard so far! 3 days to pack your house - it would take them 5 to pack mine! Do you at least know which box the TP is in, along w/ your dirty clothes so you can retrieve them??

I'd say it's time for a Wal-mart run to grab an eight pack, but you hate that.

I can't believe you guys are moving already...Time flies! I stay so busy with work..that things just seem to come and go..and I don't even have time to think about them sometimes. I hope you guys have a safe trip. I'm envious..I would love to be moving back home. I don't think I would miss it here so much...but who knows..maybe I would if I was *actually* moving. If you need to use a computer or tv or toilet paper (lol) between now and Friday..you can always come by the house..even during the day when we're gone. Just email me and I'll give you the combo to the secret code :) ....I will miss knowing you guys live just beyond the fence...and I know Abby will miss Brayden, Kellen and Kendrie...

Take Care! ~Amy F.

Oh yeah...I meant to tell you...since you last moved, the govt contract movers have significantly decreased in satisfaction ratings. We couldn't say enough good things about our movers when we moved TO VA, but the ones when we moved back? Not so great, to say the least. By the way, wait until you get to OKC and find that they've unpacked your packed storage boxes and then boxed up empty storage boxes (like the ones you keep Christmas stuff in). I just hope yours aren't sadistic like our last ones were: they packed the 3 parts to our coffee pot in 3 DIFFERENT boxes, and then only one got on the truck that got there on time and the other two were on the 2nd truck that the moving company "lost."

So that answers one question in my e-mail. I hope they get a move on tomorrow. I learned last move, to keep tp in the car,...the hard way. As a good friend, I should have passed this on...totally my fault. Please forgive... :) Kim

We made our master bath an off limits room so we had TP. That's where our dirty clothes were too.

They want 18 hours of work on Friday to pack you up and get over time pay. Hope you have nice bright exterior lights on your house!

Hugs,

I guess you could always wipe with the computer they didn't pack :)

That sucks. When I moved, friends helped pack and load the truck. After it was done I realized they had packed the clothes I was going to wear while traveling. I had to go out and by underwear and socks.

Also, um...why are you buying them food?

I still can't believe you are leaving!!! I thought maybe if I didn't leave a comment it wasn't really happening....I am very happy for you though (not for not having TP, but for moving back home)

You are welcome to my Charmin, girlfriend.

Welllllll, maybe what I said yesterday about having someone to pack for me was just a BIT premature........don't get me wrong - I HATE packing! And moving, for that matter. And unpacking afterwards. But at least I'm smart enough to pack the TP last - and open it first!! Maybe if you'd given 'em Starbucks lattes instead of donuts and subs......

ROFL!! Better watch out. Movers who are paid to pack you will pack everything. I mean everything. When they moved my mom they packed some half eaten food. I kid you not.

So question--
Do people normally pay for food for their movers? We never have but then again, it never would have occurred to me to do so.

Hang in there, Girl!

Great story! Apparently they aren't hiring the brightest bulbs for that job, huh?

Hey Kristie, When the movers show up tomorrow and want to take a 'bathroom break' after their breakfast donuts, tell them they cant use your bathroom because you dont have any toilet paper.... And just why are you buying them food? My brother has been in the moving business for years and they never get fed by the 'move-ees'.(It's not expected either.) Good luck. Sounds like you're gonna need it! And have a safe trip to Oklahoma!!
