Crushing

Blaine and I went to see his oncologist yesterday as a follow-up, now that his thirty-two sessions of radiation are over. It will be six-eight weeks before the side effects of radiation begin to wear off, and another six to eight weeks before they can get a good scan(s) near the tumor region(s) and see if the radiation was successful. In the meantime, he’s still having a slight problem with fatigue. And a bigger problem with pain management. And that pesky eye infection has returned. And it appears his implants are also infected.

But other than that, he’s doing yippy-skippy-great!

I sat in the room, watching Blaine's doctor examine him, with his gentle hands and pleasant demeanor, and listened to him talk and ask questions, in his soothing, sexy British accent, and looked into his dark, dark eyes …..

Do you think it’s grossly inappropriate that I appear to have a slight crush on my husband’s oncologist?

Well, you do have a relationship with him! It sure helps if he's cute.

We'll continue praying. Let me know if we can do more.

So glad to find out this post was about a crush on the oncologist rather than "crushing" news about Blaine. Blaine remains in my prayers.

Holy God, poor Blaine. My heart just breaks for him, going through the pain. Thank God the treatments are done!

I'm all for having little crushes here and there. Sometimes the distraction is needed.

I'm with those that started to panic a bit before I read....but a little crush is good sometimes. Just don't go lay out in the sun for hours so he can examine you too.

Of course you should have a crush on him - you are expecting this guy to save Blaine! He is going to be your Knight in Shining Armor but without the riding off into the sunset with him because you'll be with Blaine!

Just another reader who forgets that some words have multiple meanings.

I'm praying that 2009 brings a new healthy beginning to the rest of Blaine's very long life. Enough of this cancer nonsense!

No problem at all...I went to a doctor at my endocrinologist insistence for a swollen lymph node (I had thyroid cancer). I was really kind of pissed about it.

Until I met him.....talk about a hottie!!! I was so please when he said he would be at the hospital for my biopsy!!! He found more cancer, but couldn't do the operation because he didn't feel he had enough experience and the doctor he wanted to send me to (and who he would assist) was not on my insurance.....damn, that would have been too great to say he was inside my neck!!!

I say if you it makes this shitty process feel a little better....there is no problem!!!

Ditto with the others that panicked at the title. Whew, so glad to have been wrong! (I was gonna be really mad too because I did a special prayer for your family this morning and thought me and God were gonna have to have a little talk. ;-0)

You threw me off too. I thought it was going to be worse news on Blaine. Poor dude. I feel so bad for him, he has been through hell and really needs a break. Prayers they can get his pain under control, are they being stingy with the pain meds???

hmmmmm...I wonder if the fact that I have kids the same age as your two oldest are the reason that I assumed you meant exactly what you meant with the title? It seem too much of our daily lives are consumed with who-is-crushing-on-who (whom?) at the current moment. Bleh.

On a related note, the hottie med-stop doctor from the Lake Joy med stop apparently up and moved before any of my children could get sick during non-office hours, so I am STILL the only woman in WR to have not gotten to see him and to swoon over him--dammit! :(

good grief. I should have previewed before I posted that comment--there are too many typos!

I am with the majority...as soon as I saw "crushing" and glanced at the post with Blaine's name in it, I thought the worst. Sooo glad it is you with a crush! haha

LOL Kristie..... How on earth can a post about Blaine's cancer in any way make me chuckle...... Your outlook on things is so, so special, and I am grateful that I get to be one of the many witnesses to your life. I am so sorry Blaine's feeling crummy and will definitely say extra prayers for him and you all.

Hugs!
