Kristie, I am so sorry. You know.. I lost my kitty during the summer. I do believe.. and I really mean this... that those very much loved pets go somewhere when they die. Whether it's a rainbow bridge or whether it's Heaven, I don't know... but I can't imagine Heaven without our sweet babies. Lager is running free now.. no falling, no embarassing moments; he's strong and healthy and chasing rabbits... and waiting til you meet again.
Kristie, I'm so sorry on your loss of Lager. Being an animal lover and having lost several of my babies over the years, I completely understand how you're feeling today. It's so hard!
Oh Kristie, I am so sorry! To lose a pet is so sad and he was more than that...he was a member of your family. I know that he is in "doggy heaven" running and playing like a puppy, but the void in your lives is big and real.
I'm SO sorry Kristi. I have to agree with Pam; Lager is waiting for you....and probably entertaining his new friends with stories on Life With The Escoes. You were lucky to have him, and he was SO lucky to have you.
Guys, my heart breaks for you. Losing a pet is so very, very hard. Sometimes made harder by those people who believe that pets aren't really family members. Excuse my french, but that's bullshit! Your gorgeous doggy was very much a part of the family, and I can understand the pain of losing him. Thoughts are with you. Run free, Lager!
I am so very sorry about the loss of your beloved dog Lager. I can't imagine how hard this must be on all of you. Please know you guys are in my thoughts.

It reminds all too well of losing my sweet boy earlier this year. Lager lived a good life and he was very much loved - we should all be so lucky.
I am so sorry for all of you! There is almost nothing worse than losing a pet. We have lost several to old age or illness. Run with the angels sweet Lager. I know your family will miss you forever!

AWWWWH, Escoe family--- I am so sorry! We lost two of our dogs exactly one year and one day apart and it HURTS. They are part of the family. I am truly sad for you today. Wendy in Winder, GA
Kristie~It's been a long time since I've commented, but I'm still always checking in. As soon as I saw the title of today's post; I knew what was coming next. And I am so very sorry. Three months after my husband died, our cat died, four months later our other cat died. At that point, I thought I was going to completely lose it. I am just so very sorry because I do know how much you all will miss Lager...as I will miss reading about him.
Lager is in a wonderful place where his paws are always warm and the table scraps are divine- but I know you still wish he were here. Lager had a wonderful life with you all.
I'm so sorry, Kristie! Lager is just the cutest dog. He had a long life and was well loved, but I know that doesn't make this any easier. Hope you guys are doing okay, especially the kids.
I'm so sorry to hear about Lager. What a faithful dog. I think he hung on in this life until you all made it HOME to OK. I know it's tough for the kids.
Wow... I can't believe how hard this hit me, as I sit here with tears streaming down my face. I am so so sorry for the loss of your beloved Lager. He was a lucky dog, to be in a family who he loved so much, and loved him so much.. but it hurts so much to lose a member of the family. You'll be in my thoughts ..
Escoe's, I am so so sorry for the loss of Lager. When you get your pet before you have kids, you think of them as your first child(ren.) Then to watch the pet accept each new baby as someone to love and to see your children grow up with the pet right beside them is wonderful. Our thoughts are with you all. :-(
We just buried our 18 year old kitty, and I still find myself looking for him. When someone who provides unconditional love is part of your life that long, it leaves a big emptiness. Again, so, so sorry.
Escoes, I am so sorry to read about Lager. I am sure he is running and chasing critters right now, but you will miss him so much. Our 16 year old beagle died last year and I still have moments of tears from missing her. We buried her in the backyard under the lilacs where nothing has ever grown. However, this summer my daughter noticed that there were white flowers growing over her grave. Occasionally I hear a beagle bark outside, but we have no other beagles in our neighborhood! When our kitty died, the dog would sit in front of the bookcase with glass doors and stare. I think Kitty was in there and Bingo could see him! I would also hear big "MAAOWS" in the middle of the night. Watch for Lager signs and remember what a good boy he was. Sheila in MN
Oh man, I just came on and saw the title of your post.......and I am so sad. I KNOW what it feels like to say goodbye to a cherished pet. He was such a devoted boy:) With all the moves you guys made he was well traveled......how fitting he passed after he knew you all were "home":) Such a good doggie:) Thinking of you all:) Dena
I am so sorry...we just had to put our family dog, Avery, down the day after Thanksgiving as she suddenly got sick. The loss is tough....please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your beloved Lager. We've lost many pets over the years and it just never gets any easier. Please know that Lager is running and playing now as he waits for you at the Rainbow Bridge.
Oh Kristie. I'm very sorry. I know your pain. I had to say goodbye to my beautiful, blue-eyed husky a little over a month ago and I still get weepy about it. In fact, as I was letting our other dog into the house last night, I thought I caught a glimpse of him in the reflection on the glass door. I think he visits sometimes. I feel his warmth sometimes, too.
I bet Lager will do the same. And don't let anyone tell you he's just a dog. Family is family, regardless of number of legs.
I don't think the address for the Rainbow Bridge poem is coming up, but if you go to rainbowbridge.com and click on "the poem" you'll find a beautiful poem about the loss of a beloved pet.
I am so sorry. The pain of losing a pet who only know unconditional love is heartbreaking. I know how you feel. It has been 17 years since my beloved "Duffy" died...it still brings tears to my eyes. MMeg, Milford
I'm so sorry to hear about Lager. We lost our 14 year old dog in August and our 16 year old cat last week. I feel your pain. Hug the kids for me. Briana
Awww man - that is a total suckfest. I'm so sorry for you all. Losing a pet is very hard. Just know Lager had a wonderful life with you guys and is now running and chasing rabbits in doggie heaven. Lori
I am so very sorry for your loss of Lager. Although he is in a better place, you and your family are left with a huge void. My thoughts are with all of you.
Sad, sad news indeed... shedding some tears for you this morning as I really do feel your pain. We lost our beloved Shasta (a lab/husky cross) just over 2 years ago at the age of 16. She was the same age as my youngest son and she got us through the years when he was sick.
The grieving period is hard (for me it lasted nearly 2 years) but the happy memories continue to be sweet. May all your memories of Lager be happy.
I think Lager just needed to come home to Oklahoma where you all wanted to be....
I am so sorry. That stinks! Pets are like our children and it does hurt! Love, Marci p.s are you working on them annual Christmas letters? My address changed!
I'm so, so sorry. Sounds like everybody involved did their "jobs" perfectly.....your family loved him with every ounce of your beings and he showed you loyalty and unconditional love that only a beloved dog can show. I'm so sorry for your broken hearts.
Oh my gosh. I am so sorry. We had to put down our favorite Golden this year, and it really sucked. There are no words. Lager had a great life with you guys, I'm sure you'll miss him a great deal. (((hugs)))
Kristie, Ray, Nicholas and I are so sorry for your loss. You just have believe that Lager is running free of any pain now. I'm certain he and Peaches have found each other by now. If our animals are like our two kids, Kendrie and Nicholas, then I believe those two pets will be friends for life! They are both strong and healthy and running free. That is the only bad thing about having a pet is that we all get so attached to them like they are one of our children. I was thinking last night, "I wonder if Nicholas would like to share one of his puppies with you all?" I can give you the breeder's name I got the puppies from if you'd like. Take care! Miss you all!
I'm so sorry. I lost our first "furry baby" 4 years ago, but it's still hard. We waited 8 months, and then adopted a shelter dog and it was exactly what we needed. We love our "new" dog, but will always remember our first.
Lager - the dog that could stop a speeding train. What a legend.
I enjoy reading your blog, but have never left a comment. I just had to today to tell you that I'm so sorry about your loss. I know what you're going through because yesterday my husband and son (16) took our 14 year old part black lab part ? to the vet and had to have him put down. I was still at work when they left to take him to the vet and was waiting for them to get home because our office party was last night. Needless to say as soon as they pulled under the carport I could tell by the look on my sons face what had happened. So yes, yesterday pretty much sucked! Lynn in Tn.
Oh geeze! I'm so very sorry. I'm sitting here crying as I type. I'm so very sorry for your loss; its so hard. We are in the midst of doggie vet visits here at our house and there is a surgery scheduled next week, we won't know much until after that. Doggies and their eternal destination has been on my mind an awful lot lately. I do believe that God loves our beloved pets ( and the rest of his critter creations ) and that they will be in heaven, even though mention is not made specifically about it in the Bible. I do believe it to be true. Many hugs to you.
Kristie, I am so sorry. I have only commented a few times but I'm sad for you like you are a close friend. I have been hugging my sweet 11-yr-old dog close the past few days, because I keep receiving Christmas cards from old friends who lost their beloved pets this year. I am dreading the day, although knock on wood my dog is still in good health.
Oh Kristie, I am so sorry. I know how much you and your family loved Lager and I know how much it hurts when you lose a much loved furbaby. We've lost 6 in the last six years, the latest was in July. So I know very well how you feel. I have started buying myself flowers when a pet passes. For the last one I got a nice dish garden and looking at it brings back happy memories. Anyway, I'm so sorry. Take care, Elaine in Lynnwood
So sorry for your loss. We had to have our cat of 13 years put to sleep last year. It was a very difficult decision that took us several days to do as the kids were so upset. But I tried to explain to them that she was older, had lost bladder control and it was time to put her out of her sufferings (...I have tears just thinking about it). Thinking of you.. Kristina Ohio
OMG...I am so sorry Escoe family! Words can never describe the loss of a loved one and family member. And I know Lager was considered a family member. I'm sorry...
Sweet, beautiful Lager. He helped you raise your kids. He comforted you through all the bad times, and rejoiced with you when the bad times became the 'normal', and then the great times. Your 'first born' fur baby, and he's gone. I am so terribly, terribly sorry. Many cyber hugs to you and yours Kristie...with love..
AWWWWW! Kristie, Blaine, Brayden, Kellen, and Kendrie-
I am soo sooo sorry for your loss! Lager was so loved, it was evident in all the pictures and words, and I know he will be sorely missed. Hugs to you all!
I am so sorry to hear about Lager. Its hard to lose a pet, and harder still when the kids are so upset. When I lost my beloved Bee, a friend sent me a card with this:
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I still get teary-eyed reading it. {{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}
Kristie and Family - So sorry to hear about Lager. Our family adds an angel to our Christmas tree whenever we lose someone or something close to us. That way, no matter what, everybody is together for Christmas
Checking back to see that precious picture of Lager with the kids. I just noticed that he is smiling...yep, that's a smile! I still talk about my dog who past away in 2001. My kids all think I'm crazy but what do they know? It's not easy, I understand(((((hugs)))))
So sorry that you have to face the world without sweet Lager in it! Let the tears flow (cuz there ain't no way to stop 'em) and wait for the day that your heart is open for a new friend to snuggle with.
Dear Escoes, no matter how old our beloved pets are, it isn't any easier. The boys still talk about Kirby--3 1/2 years later. I hope the great memories you have of Lager will help carry you through this time. And I agree with Carolyn--get Dog Heaven by Cynthia Rylant. It really helped the boys. Thinking of you!
Kristie, I am so sorry you and your family have lost your beloved pet. I have tears in my eyes for you right now. It is so hard to lose animals because all they do is love you unconditionally; they never want anything in return. I hope you and your family will be okay.
Oh Kristie, I'm so sorry. We know when we get these little balls of fuzz that they won't be with us forever but it's always too soon when they leave us. My heartfelt condolences to you and the family.
So sorry to learn of Lager's move to higher places. I know he had a wonderful 16 years. I, too, am a believer that animals go to heaven when they pass away. I just know that my pets will all be waiting at the gates with my human loved ones when my time comes to travel that way. God created our pets so I feel in my heart that he brings them back to him when their tasks on earth are complete as well. Thinking about y'all at this difficult time.
HOlly, a friend from GA....actually met y'all at the Macon Chili's a couple years ago.
Oh crap. I read the header, and without scrolling any further, I just new. I am so saddened for you. I never understood until we got our pup a few months ago. Now I understand the devesation. My heart would be broken if anything happened to Jack. I hope you are...okay. I know that you probably aren't. I am so sorry.
Kristie, I am sorry, too, for your loss. Hug the kids for all of us in cyberworld who only know of them through this box-but tell them that we all loved Lager, too, and we love them!
And to the person who reminded us of the speeding train story...thanks!! It brought a smile to my face in the midst of wanting to cry! What a good dog that Lager was! Patricia/GA
We are so sorry to hear about Lager. He was blessed to spend his life with such a wonderful family. Just know that we are thinking of you guys. We sure do miss all of you. It's not the same without you all.Hugs from Georgia.-Sonya, Joey, and Miranda
I am so sorry for your loss. Only those "owned" by their dogs can really understand how much these four legged angels on earth really mean to our families. Lager was such a sweetheart. I'm glad he made it home to Oklahoma. Now he is happily chasing heavenly squirrels and bunnies with the energy of a puppy again. God bless Lager.
oh, no. I'm so sorry. It honestly is like losing a member of the family, especially when they've been part of your life for so long. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
Oh...I am so sorry to hear about Lager. He was so well loved and I know Fosters was waiting to welcome him home. I bet they are partying right now! Know we love you guys and thinking of you! xoxo The Warcholiks
I'm so very sorry about the loss of your Lager. We have a much beloved corgi and know that pets are a very special and loved part of the family. I'm glad that your family was able to love and enjoy his antics and company for so many years, but am so sorry that you had to lose this dear friend, and especially so with the holidays here. I know he's happy and whole chasing squirrels in Heaven, but my prayers are with you and your family as you miss him.
Ahh, Kristie, our hearts hurt for you and your family.
You might want to look for "For Every Dog an Angel" by Christine Davis or "Up in Heaven" by Emma Chichester Clark. I am a preschool teacher, so tend to look for books for younger children...but young or old, the feeling of loss is the same.
I have been following you since Kendrie's Caringbridge days, but I have not left you any comments since. I am coming out of "lurking" to let you know how very sorry I am about your loss. Our pets are truly family members, so I know that the grief that you and your family are experiencing must be very deep.
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I am so sorry.
Kristie and family, I am very sorry for your loss. I lost my little doxie in May and she was only 4 years old. I left her at home to do a few errands and came home and she was gone. I have lost other dogs from old age but this was such a shock, it was very hard to get over and not knowing why is still hard to deal with, so I know the hurt you are going through. He had a wonderful long life with your family and he is "home" now.
I'm so sorry that your family has to experience the hurt of losing Lager's presence in your daily life. I pray that Lager is happily running and playing in a better place with no physical limitations or pain. He was truly a faithful and loving friend and companion to your family.
Oh Kristie *and family*, I am so sorry for your loss. It must be so hard for you and the kids and i hope you can find peace and know that Lager is strong and free up in doggie heaven!
It is so hard to put into words what I want to convey to you all. It has been obvious from your blogs that Lager was a very happy dog - well loved by you all and he returned that love in kind. It is hard to lose anyone that fits that description. My request would be that you honor his memory - the love and companionship that he gave to you all - by getting another canine friend soon. When you think of all the love he shared with you - all the wonderful memories that you have of him - he would want you to do the same for another canine friend. No one will ever replace him but there are others who will bring joy, happiness and love to your life. I've been down this road many times in my life and have found that new friends serve, in part, to keep the memories of old friends very much alive.
The one thing I am very sure of is that Lager would want to know that all of you were happy = not sad. He is now a very happy pooch - enjoying romping and playing with many other canines who have gone before him.
I send to you all my sincere wish for peace and happiness.
Kristie, I am so sorry for your loss of dear, sweet Lager. It is so hard to lose a pet that you have loved-on for such a long time and was such a big part of your family. Madie and I are sending warm thoughts and hugs!.......Ice Girls
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Lager, I know you will miss him more than you could have imagined. My girlfriend Karen is going through the very same, she emailed on Dec 10 to tell me that P.D., her ancient golden lab boy, had passed away on Dec 1. They are hurting. The first thing I thought after I read her email was, God, I hope Lager is ok. So I was very sad to come here today, needing to catch up again after a few weeks away from the site, and have the first thing I see be that Lager has gone to doggy heaven. But he will have met up by now with a new buddy P.D. and together, I am sure they are having the very best doggy time.
Dear Kristie, I'm so sorry, it makes me feel very sad knowing Lager died, it reminds me how I felt when our dog Kiki died, it was so sad. I love the picture of the three children with him the look of bliss on Kellen's face is beautiful, the four of them looked so happy! He looks so happy in the pic, he had a great life with you. Take care, Love Angela
Kristie: I'm so sorry for your loss. Dogs are such great creatures! Here's a link to The Rainbow Bridge, you and the family may take comfort in this: http://www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html
Also, here's a poem I read over and over when my beloved dog died a few years ago:
I LOVED YOU BEST
So this is were we part, my friend, And you’ll run on, around the bend, Gone from sight, but not from mind, New pleasures there you’ll surely find.
I will go on, I’ll find the strength, Life measures quality, not its length. One long embrace before you leave, Share one last look, before I grieve.
There are others, that much is true, But they are they, and they aren’t you. And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought, Will remember well all you’ve taught.
Your place I’ll hold, you will be missed, The fur I stroked, the nose I kissed. And as you journey to your final rest, Take this with you…I loved you best.
It has been a long time since I checked your site. I got a job after taking 6 years off to raise the wee ones.
Anyway, I am so veyr sorry about Lager. What a wonderfully long life he was blessed with. He was so very loved and well taken care of during all those years. I am sure that there is an emptiness inside. Time is the only thing that healed it for me. 1 1/2 years ago I had to put my 8 yr. dog to sleep. It was definitely the worst day of my life. Time has made it easier.

Oh, I'm so sorry. We had to put our beloved Mandy down before we came to Germany. She was 13. I wrote about her on our blog here.

Go buy yourself Dog Heaven by Cynthia Rylant and read it over and over to your kids. It is good therapy.

Hi Kristie,
I am so sorry. I have been reading your blog and know how much you love Lager.
Oh I'm so sorry, Kristie. How sad!

I am so, so sad for your family right now. Crying tears of sadness for your loss. ((BIG HUGS))

I am so sorry. It's never easy to lose a beloved pet. I hope memories of happy times ease the pain.
Sorry to hear of your loss - there's really not too much we all can say except we're thinking of you as you go through this sad time of missing Lager.

I understand and I am sorry.
Andrea
I don't think the address for the Rainbow Bridge poem is coming up, but if you go to rainbowbridge.com and click on "the poem" you'll find a beautiful poem about the loss of a beloved pet.

I am so sorry.
The pain of losing a pet who only know unconditional love is heartbreaking.
I know how you feel.
It has been 17 years since my beloved "Duffy" died...it still brings tears to my eyes.

I'm so sorry to hear about Lager. We lost our 14 year old dog in August and our 16 year old cat last week. I feel your pain. Hug the kids for me.
Briana
It hurts so much to lose a furry child. I'm sorry, Kristie. I am holding you, your babies, and Blaine in my thoughts.
You aren't quite ready for it yet, but when you can, remember the good days. Grieve today. Take time. As much as you need.
I am so sorry...my thoughts are with you and your family.
Deb
The stress of the move, ice storm now Lager...it's kind of a crappy month so far.
I'm so sorry to hear about Lager. I'll be thinking of you.
Lenaya
Blondie
I'm so sorry. I know how much you all loved him.
I am so, so sorry. I know animals are like kids. It is so hard and so unfair. I am praying for you and your family.

I am so, so sorry. Many hugs for all of you. Lager was well-loved.
Oh, so very, very, very sorry. Rest in peace, Lager....
I'm so sorry. It's so hard. You guys gave that dog a wonderful life. He wanted to make sure his kiddos got settled in to the new place all right...
Oh, I'm so sorry. I know how much you all loved him and how much he will be missed. My heart is hurting for you.
(((hugs))) ~Andrea in Delaware

I am so sorry for your loss. Today, as I hug Rex (my dog), I will hug him a little tighter in honor of Lager. Hugs from a fellow Okie

RIP Lager.

So sorry, Kristie.
I'm so sorry Escoes. He looked lovely, and you can tell he had a great life with you!
I Stood By Your Bed
I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached out to me.
I was with you at the shops today, your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today, you tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me."
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing t here.
It's possible for me to be so near you every day.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is almost over... I smile and watch you yawning
And say, "Goodnight, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out... then come home to be with me.

Hugs to Lager's very sad family. It is so difficult to lose a family member who gives nothing but love. So sorry.
Kristie, I am sorry, too, for your loss. Hug the kids for all of us in cyberworld who only know of them through this box-but tell them that we all loved Lager, too, and we love them!

I am so sorry for your loss. Only those "owned" by their dogs can really understand how much these four legged angels on earth really mean to our families. Lager was such a sweetheart.
I am so sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry for your loss. It's never easy to lose a member of your family!
Kristie,
I have been following you since Kendrie's Caringbridge days, but I have not left you any comments since.

Rest well faithful servant!
Oh Kristie *and family*, I am so sorry for your loss. It must be so hard for you and the kids and i hope you can find peace and know that Lager is strong and free up in doggie heaven!
So sorry to hear about the loss of your sweet puppy. I know he was well loved.
Katy B.
Libby Gladden
Kristie, I am so sorry for your loss of dear, sweet Lager. It is so hard to lose a pet that you have loved-on for such a long time and was such a big part of your family. Madie and I are sending warm thoughts and hugs!.......Ice Girls
Hi Kristy,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Lager, I know you will miss him more than you could have imagined.
Dear Kristie,
I'm so sorry, it makes me feel very sad knowing Lager died, it reminds me how I felt when our dog Kiki died, it was so sad.
I love the picture of the three children with him the look of bliss on Kellen's face is beautiful, the four of them looked so happy! He looks so happy in the pic, he had a great life with you.
Take care,
Love Angela

Kristie:
I'm so sorry for your loss. Dogs are such great creatures!
Here's a link to The Rainbow Bridge, you and the family may take comfort in this:
http://www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html
Also, here's a poem I read over and over when my beloved dog died a few years ago:
I LOVED YOU BEST
So this is were we part, my friend,
And you’ll run on, around the bend,
Gone from sight, but not from mind,
New pleasures there you’ll surely find.
I will go on, I’ll find the strength,
Life measures quality, not its length.
One long embrace before you leave,
Share one last look, before I grieve.
There are others, that much is true,
But they are they, and they aren’t you.
And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought,
Will remember well all you’ve taught.
Your place I’ll hold, you will be missed,
The fur I stroked, the nose I kissed.
And as you journey to your final rest,
Take this with you…I loved you best.

Kristie,
It has been a long time since I checked your site.
Thinking of all of you.
