There Was A Plan

The original plan for tonight: Dinner with friends. Drive through Dunkin Donuts with children, order hot chocolate, and drive around town looking at Christmas light displays on houses, happily singing carols as we go.

The reality of tonight: Dinner with friends, but only three of us because Blaine was tired and Kellen basically ate himself sick with unlimited quantities of gingerbread house decorations earlier in the day (who could have predicted **that**??) Drive home after dinner, pick up Blaine and Kellen, and begin Dunkin Donut Hot Chocolate/Christmas Light Display Odyssey, but never make it out of the neighborhood because children won’t quit arguing over whose turn it is to select the Christmas music CD and why nothing is ever fair and how I don’t have to listen to you and I hate you you’re a stupid-head you’re a bigger stupid-head shut up until Mom’s head spins around and she yells, “That’s it, I’ve had it, you ungrateful brats!” and flips a U-ie in the mini-van without ever leaving the housing edition, and drives right back home.

I know three children who are SO getting coal in their stockings this year.

Don't you just love my Christmas spirit?

it is amazing how kids test the limits at this time of year.... are they completly brain dead??? do they not get the correlation between good behavior and presents? did the song EVER sink in??? I totally feel your pain. Kids can basically suck. but the wonder is you love them each and every day. Truely amazing. they can melt your heart and make you want to squeeze them so hard it would hurt, but how??? the secret of being a child...
Have a wonderful/normal! holiday.

Kristie;

I sooo lived this scenario! I won't even attempt the drive-through our local park decked out with 1,000s of lights - hey...but if it's a park, and you're not driving - can you still drink?!

Thank you once again for giving me a glimpse of my life from the outside, now I can laugh again ('cause I swear about an hour ago I was going to sell them to the lowest bidder!).

Hugs and Happy Christmas,

Talk about testing your limits!
I would have did the U turn BUT I would have needed the Donuts (a full dozen) and a cuppa coffee. Which I might add I crave all the time because we don't even have shitty Dunkin Donuts up here !

Kristie, I think I would have went and bought the doughnuts first and then went back home as telling my kids that I am eating everyone of these by myself and you are going straight to bed. Though I really could eat anything sweet with all of the MARTHA STEWART baking I have did the past 2 days. I am sick of seeing sweets. This might be the easiest diet remedy for me...LOL..Love ya, Marci

Kristie! Try again, please try again! A few years ago, very close to your neighborhood we had the most amazing Christmas moment. I dont think our family can top it..ever. My mom and dad were in visiting. We were doing the same thing - looking at lights, listening to Christmas music. The kids were talking about the reindeer...I dont remember which song was on the radio but it was a magical moment when we came around the corner and there was about 6 deer standing in someones lawn. They were standing in some fog and slowly glanced up in our direction. It was so, so, so perfect! The kids (and my parents) were in awe. It was really nice.
I dont think I can do the moment any justice in an email...but try again!!! They will have a better night. It is really disappointing when we do so much for them and they cant even get along with each other...(or even just be quiet if they dont like each other...that would be okay too!!!) ;) We are missing you all this Christmas! Sorry we missed the Gingerbread house party

I am right along with you with my two bratty kids. I have also had enough so much so that if they fight one more time we are not going to see the High School Musical play tonight. And how many days are they out for the holiday?

Happy Holidays

Kristie,

I am so glad I found you again...I missed checking in for a few days (who am I kidding, I missed over a week!) while we were stuck in Seattle without a computer! I am thrilled to know that you are going to continue to write, like many others, my day just isn't complete without my Kristie-fix! I LOVE that you don't have to censor yourself - talk about anything and use as much potty language as you want...we can deal.

Thought you would like to know we got nothing but good news during our visit to Seattle. Instead of "he will be dead in a year" we learned that my husband's cancer has NOT metastasized and after surgery he will be considered CURED! Needless to say, we are thrilled and we are going to schedule the surgery in Seattle. There is something to be said for dealing with specialists.

Have a great holiday.
With much aloha,
Jeri

I'm so excited about your new website! I find it almost easier to read than the Caringbridge site (which I WILL conitnue to visit, because you are trying to trick us by writing a few differant updates in here than in there). It worked because I'm checking both all the time to make sure I have not missed anything funny! From a faithful CB follower.

Oh kids! Our Christmas plans have been ruined a few minutes ago by a 20-yr old kid. Yup 20 years old. You still have a few years to go I think hahaha ;)
