On the Road Again

I'm typing this on a wireless laptop, from a bus, on 1-20 between Atlanta and Alabama. Isn't technology fucking fabulous???

Our family is on its way to spend a week at the beach with The Lighthouse Family Retreat. {I have no idea if that link will work, as my cheat sheet for entering links is on my computer at home, which is someplace I am not, because did I mention I'm typing this on a wireless laptop on a BUS?!?!?} Lighthouse chartered a bus for all the families to ride to Florida together. Part of me loves this, considering I don't have to drive and they've got movies and snacks for the kids and it frees me up to type on a WIRELESS LAPTOP .... but part of me hates it, the part of me that's sitting in the last row by the bathroom and freezing to death because I swear it must only be 50 degrees on this bus. Actually, sitting in the back row by the bathroom doesn't bother me at all because I don't get car sick and I've got the entire row to myself .... plenty of room for the WIRELESS LAPTOP .... but seriously, it's like a damn ice cave on here.

I'll be able to update throughout the week, but wanted to pop on now and say hi ... mainly because I can, thanks to technology. Now, about the time we hit a speedbump and I accidentally hit the delete button and lose this journal enty before I post it, I'll be cussing technology ... but for now, let me just repeat it, in case you didn't notice --- I'm typing on a BUS, on a WIRELESS LAPTOP!! I love technology. And I love going to the beach with the Lighthouse.

I'd say pretty much it's a win/win situation. Or at least it would be if a sweatshirt or fleece blanket would fall from the sky.

Enjoy!

Ummm... is your wireless being invaded? I have been reading your posts for the better part of 5 years and you used the f-word. Not typical! I am a little worried that Kristie did NOT write the last enrty.

Every time you typed. I love technology, I got a mental vision of Napoleon Dynamite's brother Kip singing that to his internet girlfriend. Too funny
Have fun on your vacation. Where in Fla?

I love your blog, but was very disappointed by the dropping of the "F" word in the first sentence. I let my kids read! Very disappointing, Kristie.

Kristie: We got wireless internet about six months ago, and I too was awe struck by it. Have a WONDERFUL time on your retreat!

I am so glad to hear they don't care if you bring your laptop. We are headed to the Lighthouse Retreat in two weeks and I was hoping I wouldn't offend, but a girls gotta have a place to download the billions of photos I will be taking!

Have fun...oh yeah, and don't worry about the f-bomb...technology is FUCKING awesome!

I have wireless on my laptop too and I love it but how does it work on a freeway or something? Where are you picking the signal up from?

Have a really awesome and fun trip with your family.

Methinks Blaine came through with a really cool anniversary present!

And for those curious about getting wireless while in a moving bus...you can get wireless internet connections if you subscribe, it's kind of like having cell phone service for your laptop. Will we be getting updates from the cruise ship? (Which by the way, is a wonderful cruise...hope you set Blaine up to do some fishing, and a helicopter ride would be spectacular, and there are really cute shops in Juneau).

WA HOO Kristie, a LAPTOP!!!! That is just Fan-fucking-tastic! I am jealous. Seriously...I have wanted a laptop for SOOO long, alas, I still have my desktop PC with Gasp a 13 inch (not even a flat panel) arcaic screen. Maybe one of those 19 inch LCD's would make me feel a bit better about how cheap...um I mean frugal we are.
Have lots of fun on the trip. Enjoy every minute. Ya want to trade? We are staring a cross country PCS in the face (and I do mean cross country Costal NC to good ole San Diego), with a 4 year old child who gets car sick.
Meat cooler sounds pretty good eh?
Big hugs to the whole family.

WIRELESS LAPTOP? Where did you get the WIRELESS LAPTOP? Somebody else already mentioned, perhaps an anniversary gift? I think that is SUPER, just FUCKING SUPER! And I also think it is just fine for you to drop the f-bomb wherever and whenever you like, because this is your blog. Decorum be damned. So don't let the kids read--and whoever didn't notice this isn't the first f-bomb that's been dropped, needs to go back and re-read. I even remember one from CB, which made me chuckle and KNOW that you're my kinda gal and that YOU ROCK (with a WIRELESS LAPTOP!). As the song said, "don't go changin' to try to please me..." which really shows my age, but which sums it all up pretty good. "Judgmental" is a pet peeve of mine; and what I think is more ridiculous than the f-bomb is the need for a weekly blog lesson in the use of the "X" key if someone doesn't like what they read. But I digress...

Have a wonderful time at the beach (where you can take the time to really get to know your WIRELESS LAPTOP!); and I can't wait for lots of pix! I daydream about the beach...

Yeah seriously. Anyone who reads you regularly (like me and about a million others) knows you drop the f-bomb on a daily basis, so whoever's offended needs to lighten the fuck up. Ha. And you're a big whiner Kristie. "I'm freezing". Whatever. Would you rather be on a bus that's stinky and hot and sweltering? Didn't think so.

I don't know why people insist on being anonymous when they have something negative to say.
I love your blog, Kristi. Have fun at the Lighthouse and know that I for one am green with envy over your wireless modem/laptop.

Not that you need my permission, but I'm older than dirt and I enjoy a good fucking comment occasionally! Keep being you because if you didn't, this would be my "go to" place everyday!

If you've never seen the F-bomb here, you have NOT been reading ALL of Kristie's posts for 5 years! Go back and re-read!

Kristie, enjoy your little vacation. We live in Niceville so if you need anything while you are down this way, let us know!

I just wanted to throw my two sense out there...I know it really doesn’t mean much, but hey, oh well ;) We are probably beating a dead horse when it comes to the whole F-bomb issue – it’s sad to say but your kids are probably hearing it in school. I’m a 5th grade teacher and I’ve heard it a handful of times...the penalty...a lunch detention. So instead of sheltering your kids (which I know we all want to do)...educate them on why it’s not appropriate to use, or whatever your stand may be. Ok...that’s all I wanted to say ;)

PS...enjoy your vacation, you guys deserve it! Keep us updated...and hopefully post a few pictures soon!!!
