Mondays

"Mom, I can't go to school today."

"Why's that?"

"Because my head hurts and my tummy hurts and I think I have a fever and my legs feel nauseous."

Mondays aren't good for my kids, can you tell?

You remind me of a Shel Siverstein poem this morning! The name of it is "Sick". It starts, "'I cannot go to school today' said little Peggy Ann McKay" and continues with a litany of reasons why she is just too ill to go to school. My favorite reason: "My belly button's caving in." It ends, "What's that you say? You say today is Saturday? G'bye, I'm going out to play!" My mom used to call this "school bell fever".

I hope your mom is doing much better!

Legs feel nauseous??? That is awesome!!! Obviously your kids have a lot of time on their hands...And they spend that time thinking!

I have "Sick" framed and hanging in the Middle School nurse's office that I work in. It is SO true! Hope everybody made it to school and doesn't barf up a lung and have to go home!

I work at a K-12 school and Mondays are hard on most...including staff!

Hope everyone feels better by now and that you're enjoying your QUICKLY SHRINKING time at home without the kids -- summers coming!

Did I miss the explanation of why your retirement dreams are not working out? I don't want to be nosy.. but I guess I am.

Thinking of you all on this cool northeast Monday.. I miss South Carolina (I'm a displaced southern girl)

what is going on? My son said this morning, "I don't feel well." I said, "OK - if you don't go to school, you don't go to ball practice tonight." guess what?! Out the door he went - and the school hasn't called - so I think he was miraclously cured!

ROFL!! Love the legs comment! Sometimes my legs feel nauseous too, when I first get up, but I just thought it was because I am nearing 40!

ROFL! Funny that these illnesses creep up on a Monday :) :) :) I too love "Sick" and Shel Silverstein.

Well, this IS a day for nauseous legs. Mine are very close to vomiting as I type. So bad I called in to work for a day off tomorrow, making this a three-day weekend for me! I truly understand where your little darling was coming from; there's just nothing worse than nauseous legs :).

I actually have spent the past 2 weeks waking my 9 year old up every morning (only school days, of course!) with the thermometer IN HAND behind my back (too lazy to go back to the kitchen to find it....) because she feels "sick" and "MUST have a fever".... but no, 98.xxx every day - so OFF YOU GO!!!!!
