Vacation Thoughts #1

I have experienced the beauty that is a SuperTarget.

There is no need for me to leave the state of Virgina.

Ever.

kristie! i'm a lurker who became a fan of yours through julianna banana's site. as a minnesotan currently displaced in ohio i completely understand your appreciation for supertarget. in minnesota they are everywhere, but are essentially nonexistent in rural ohio, and i miss them SOO much. i forget some people haven't experienced their amazingness.

p.s. i'm pretty pumped about being the first person to comment.

I experienced my first Super Target last week, too, but it was in Daytona Beach. We don't even have Target in Canada, which TOTALLY SUCKS!! I buy summer clothes for my 5 girls there every year when we're vacationing in Florida.

I was at SUPERTarget today ! One of the perks of living in Virginia. I can't believe you are in Virginia where are you in VA ?

Kristie~

In our Minnesota small town, we have a regular Target and a Super Walmart. A Super Target trumps a Super Walmart anytime!

Loved the subtle Virginia joke.

I am voting with the others...more about pregnancies, infertilities, surrogacies...please!

We had them in Louisiana but they are not very prevalent in Arkansas (I figured Walmart was keeping them out of it's home state!) but in TX there's not any nearby either. Don't know WHAT the deal is. They have old regular Target's but those are boring! glad you found a SUPER one!

Hey! I'm in Atlanta and we have a few Super Target's! Maybe they'll make their way down to middle Georgia before you guys head back to OKC. =)

A Super what?
A K-what?
Hells bells... we don't even have Dunkin Donuts up here !

Ohhhh.... how I miss the "real" states !

Used to live right by one in Dallas, and Super Wal-mart was right down the street. Then I moved back to Central Oregon where we have the "scary" Wal-mart and the "ghetto" Target. God Bless Costco!

OMG how have you survived without SuperTarget?!?! It's only THE most amazing place ever! And their scrapbooking stuff has become very very cool lately. I seriously cannot believe you don't have them by you... I go there without fail every week! Wal-Mart whatever is NO comparison whatsoever... Target is by far the BEST!! And just so you know... there IS such a thing as a Target Greatland... and you thought it couldn't get any bigger! hehe. Enjoy it lots! I'm actually going there tomorrow morning! Have a great trip - love your blog SO much - you're awesome!

Oh and this is for the person who posted on top of my comment... the correct terminology for the ghetto Target is "Targhetto" Gotta say, we have a few of those... in the "gayberhoods" of downtown Dallas. Wish I could take credit for the creativity behind that one but I can't...

As another member of your Minnesota following, it's hard to imagine life without SuperTarget. And something REALLY cool? They are building a big, shiny, brand-new SuperTarget less than a mile from my house--and it's right on my way home from work!!! After it opens in July, it will definitely NOT suck to be me. Truly, we don't ask for much in life!

I hope this is just the start of many good things on your vacation!

Super Target here in the sticks in North Dakota... Super Walmart.. lines forever long! and then they are building another super walfart!! ughhh
Enjoy every minute of your writings! As my kids say.. "you rock!"

Another voice from Minnesota: Our Supertarget opened in October, and I hate it. There are several items that I want that they don't have there. I miss my crappy old Fridley Target. I will drive twice the distance to go to Greatland. The one thing that SuperTarget has is some absolutely bomb peanut butter/toffee cookies that are sandwiched together with chocolate fudge. Sometimes I go there just to get one of those for lunch!

There's a SuperTarget in the Birmingham area that I've been to with my sister, but the Target Greatland in Newport News blew it away completely! I miss that more than anything else since we moved back from VA. Try to find a Greatland...they are much better than the SuperTargets, believe it or not!

Gotta love SuperTarget! We shop there way too often. Hope you are having fun on vacation.

If only there were a SuperTarget closer to my house, I would never, ever go back to WalMart!

No super Targets in Seattle....so Kristie, be warned - just the regular, garden-variety Targets. We did get a Kohl's (it's in Covington/Kent), but I haven't been up there yet. I don't do WalMarts....don't like the way they pay/treat their employees...

Wow. Supertarget sounds wonderful. I'm guessing its a pile it high - sell it cheap sort of shop where you come out weighted down with clothes that you might never wear but hey they were only a pound (dollar)so it doesn't matter...If I want a shopping fix I take the boat to Southampton or Portsmouth and dive into a Primark - which I'm guessing is a smaller version of Target. Hope you have a wonderful holiday / vacation.

One of the first things that we do when we are in Atlanta is go to the Super Target near Stone Mountain. It rocks! Here in Md. we have only a couple Targets near our house and a few Walmarts. Wish that they would open a Super Target near me.

I'm so limited. I didn't even know there WAS such a thing as a Super Target!!!!!!!!!!! I guess that's what I get for living in Montana, huh?

So, I somehow stumbled across this blog in the late night hours a few days ago (ok, so it was 9pm but that's late for this SAHM!) and I just about split my gut reading it! I know it's not all funny, but you have this way of taking a crappy situation and laughing at it. Now I'm addicted. My husband.....not so happy. Every time I sit at the computer he gives me the look, the one that says "you spend way too much time on that freakin' thing, and I don't care if it's sometimes the only connection you have with the adult world". Men!

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that you have another Canadian lurking here, waiting for the next installment of your blog.

Oh, and we don't have any Targets here at all. Sucky.

Super Target is the best! (well, after super walmart anyway). My Super Target is literally 5minutes from my front door!

I'm in Dallas and there are several here. OMG. I cannot begin to tell you how incredible the SuperTarget is. It's better than sex. OK. I said it.

What? A Supertarget? a Superwalmart???!!

Target wants to build a store on a site that's less than 5 minutes from my house, but they are waiting for the village to approve rezoning that piece of land. I'd be there several times a week if they would just build the place! There are two Targets within 1/2 hour drive from here, which isn't too bad. Stinky walmart is closer, but I hate that store with its surly employees who suddenly don't speak English (even though they could 10 seconds ago) as soon as you ask them a question!

Hope your vacation rocks!

Re: Supertarget... OK, maybe this makes me a complete NERD, but can I just add that Supertarget has grocery coupons on their website, and that these coupons very often make certain items FREE? How cool is THAT??? (and I use the term "cool" loosely... meaning "cool in an extremely nerdy, coupon-clipping way.") Oh, and last weekend I was at the superT near my house, and they were giving away 2-liters of DDP. I.kid.you.not. !!

Super Target is awesome! There is one in the Tulsa metro area - and I will willingly make the drive to go there rather than step foot in WalMart. I have heard we are getting a Target only a mile or so from me - but am waiting word on whether or not it is a Super Target. Oh, I hope it is!

To Diana above. I used to work very close to the Targhetto (totally stealing that) on Haskell. I only ventured in there one time. After that, I'd wait until I got home to go to the Super-T on Hebron Parkway.

um SUPER Target?? Are you SERIOUS?? (Apparently you are since all these people commenting have been to them...) I thought that my regular Target (which I drive 30 minutes to) was great! I can't even imagine a SUPER Target! I'm going to have to find one!!

Wait a minute...am I to assume that there isn't a Super Target in Georgia?!?! THAT...is a shame. A damn shame. I feel badly about that. Seriously. Was Sam Walton from Georgia or something? Did he stake claim on the entire STATE?! :)

I think you should write your local congressman. Super Target is without a doubt a necessity!

Hello -

I just "seen" the first sign for a supertarget while in Florida last week. I wasn't able to venture into it though!
