Highly.

It’s always a little worrisome when you pull up to the bar at 9:30 at night and there’s already someone puking in the parking lot.

But we put on our game faces and bravely marched on.

Three words sum up the highlight of the evening:

Baby. Got. Back.

No. Oh, no, it wasn’t me.

I Will Survive? Check
Love Shack? Four Non-Blondes? Check, check.
Asking total strangers to do a Summer Lovin’ duet with me? Shamefully, check. More than once.

But Baby Got Back? No, there is not enough amaretto in the world.

However, it was highly entertaining to watch.

Highly.

Renee, I will miss you. Our loss is Pennsylvania’s gain. Uncle Sam? You suck. (Hey, Uncle Sam, just kidding. Keep putting that paycheck in our account each month, ok? No hard feelings, hee-hee) {giggling nervously that I just insulted my husband’s goliath employer on the internet …. }

I soooo wish I had the nerve for Kareoke but I don't - I don't think I can spell it either...good on you, and remember you can always offer to sing at your children's birthday parties! Love and prayers to you all.

Okay, this coming from a person who has, up until now, just been lurking on your blog--just as I mostly lurked on Kendrie's CaringBridge page. The picture I have in my mind's eye of you and the whole karaoke experience has forced me into the ranks of your commenters! I WOULD PAY TO SEE YOU DOING THE KARAOKE THING! Probably mostly because people would pay for me not to do the karaoke thing. As Lisa said, I don't have the nerve, either; plus, I think there are laws against all the dog-howling it would produce. I have to tell you also--yours is the coolest blog ever. I have one, too, but it's not fun like yours, and would never make your list of favorite blogs. It's too angst-ridden. So, here's where I come for fun...and now that I've posted, I'll be back A LOT. Until you activate whatever it is that keeps a person from being able to comment!

Kristie,
I'm feeling bad because I've been very lax on signing the guestbook. I still read everyday and plan to sign but get pulled away every time. So I'll comment on the last couple blogs right now. I would also pay to see you doing karaoke!! I have yet to drink enough to attempt it myself. Or maybe it's that there just isn't enough liquor ever made to get me up in front of anyone and sing. I have a horrible singing voice.
I took my kids to see a movie last friday because I knew I could get a DDP @ Chix Filet in the food court on our way to the theater. Ny kids were pretty impressed that mom carried her own drink into the theater. Thanks for the info Kristie!!
You made me so homesick with your Christmas in pictures. My BFF is my cousin that I grew up with. I moved away to Florida and she's still there with her family. We have 7 kids between the two of us, 5 boy's and 2 girls. The kids get along so well and adore each other.
I can't wait for your next blog!!

I am shamefully someone who reads your blog daily and never signs the guestbook. However, you must listen to this version of baby got back. Your life will never be the same.

Of course now that I"m thinking of the combination of Kristie and Jonathan Coulton I start to clap my hands and jump up and down. I mean its YOU, who tells us honestly how her kids were brats on a Wish trip, and Coulton - who wrote a love song to his daughter entitled, "You ruined everything"

I love the blog.

After all that, I left a link to the wrong song! Ugh.

Who is singing this version of Baby Got Back that you're playing?

I love karaoke, but have never attempted Sir Mix a Lot... I'm Too Sexy (Right Said Fred) once, yes, but everyone was too drunk to think my performance was anything less than award-winning.

Lisa, I think my children would rather have the demented clowns making balloon animals at their parties than have ME singing. :)

Kim and Amy, trust me, it would NOT be money well spent. I like to tell myself the people in the audience are laughing *with* me. :)

Abigail, that was a great version! I had never heard it before.

And Missy, this version is sung by the Old School Players. I searched high and low on iTunes for the Sir Mix-A-Lot version because there is just nothing that can compare to that Valley Girl saying, "Oh. My. God, Becky." I mean, who *doesn't* jump out of their chair and head to the dance floor when they hear those words?!?!

HAHAHAHA, Kristie, oh yes, it would TOO be money well-spent! Actually, the more I think about it, what would really be great would be to just go ahead and get all likkered-up and karaoke right along with you :)! Cause everyone knows that the more you drink, the better you can sing. Also dance--back in the day, rum always made me a REALLY GOOD dancer. All of those people "smiling" as I danced proved it. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! I LOVE that you comment to your commenters! You really are a cool blogger!

Karoke + Kristie = Life doesn't get any better!

Thanks for the fun, friend!

Just want to say how sorry I am that your good friend and her family have been transferred. Finally, after YEARS of running around taking care of Kendrie or Blaine while actively in treatment, or being pregnant yourself, you have a break. Time for yourself, when the kids are in school. A chance to have fun with friends. And then, a good friend gets plucked away. I'm just sorry; after all you've trudged through, you deserve better than that. Your homesick posts make a lot more sense now, knowing about Renee leaving. Won't it be nice to finally get back home, where the folks you love are right there when you need them? To party, to chat, for a shoulder, a hand up, a good laugh... all the important things in life. Blessings, and wishes that timing will finally start going your way!

Kristie, I have been so busy that I have not read your updates for a while (quit work, started College, trying to get over pneumonia--which is why I had not sent out Christmas cards yet!) but I didn't think it had been that long, until of course I was reading down the posts and found the one for Blaine's newest medical "mystery". (UGH!)
Please know that I am sending prayers for the CAT scan to be scheduled soon.
And, kuddo's to you for at least trying to diet. I don't know how you do it!
Lots of hugs...........regina
