Because We Love To Share

(Addendum) OK, so *technically* it's not the flu, just a stomach bug. But this song was the closest I could find. :)
***************************************************

Kendrie started complaining Thursday night that her stomach hurt. Although I suspected she was simply fibbing, trying to stall her bedtime, that suspicion was quickly squelched when she started throwing up a few minutes later. And then started throwing up into a bucket because she was sitting on the toilet at the same time, if you get my {gross} drift.

And because I taught my children to share, she did. First with me, then Kellen, then Brayden. It’s been a truly lovely weekend around here. Blaine is the only one to dodge the bullet, and he probably thinks catching it himself would have been easier than playing nursemaid to the four of us these past few days.

As of right now, my stomach is better although my body is still achy. Kendrie is *still* complaining of stomach pain but at least the vomiting has stopped. Not the other, though. {again, gross} Brayden is complaining she’s cold and Kellen is running a fever. I’m surprised people don’t confuse our house with Disneyworld, as much fun as we have around here.

But in the spirit of continued giving, I thought I would share with you a few of the {remember, gross is the theme around here this weekend} thoughts that went through my mind earlier when I was making my own deposits into the porcelain reservoir.

1. This toilet is so not clean. I am getting a new maid because the current one* is obviously not doing a very good job.

2. The heck with Harvard or NASA -- my kids totally rock because all three of them can hit a toilet and/or a bucket, and I’m telling you, you can’t put a price on that kind of skill!

3. Well if I had known *that* was going to happen, I would have taken advantage and enjoyed some carbs first!

4. There has got to be a less disgusting way to lose five pounds.

*wait, that’s me. I suck.

My daughter Caitlin, when she was about three, coined an almost-pleasant word for you-know-what. Please feel free to add "softarrhea" to your family's vocabulary!!!

Hope the worst is over!

Oh no! Hope you're all feeling better soon! Thank goodness for good aim ;o)

I'm so sorry this has hit you too. We've had it in our house TWICE this year, only two weeks apart. So NOT fun!! Rest up and feel better soon.

Well there is a fun family activity for a holiday weekend. I am impressed at your kid's aim - my trio are much less skilled in this arena. Hope you are all feeling better soon!

Holy crap (literally) it seems like your family just can't catch a break! Hopefully the worst is over.

I've always known your kids were talented...I am VERY impressed with their ability to aim. You are so right when you said you can't put a price on that skill!

Take care and feel better soon.

Aw, that just bites! How in the world did Blaine ever manage to dodge the bullet...could this mean the tide may be turning for him? Ever the optimist..um, yeah..I'll take it as a good sign!

I'll say a prayer for you ALL to be completely "over it" soon. After all, SOMEBODY'S gotta get busy cleaning that toilet! HA!

Start doing the bleach solution thing. Seriously. Mix bleach with water with a ratio of 8 or 9 parts water to 1 or 2 parts chlorine bleach and wipe down countertops, toilet handles, light switches, doorknobs, computer keyboards, telephone keypads, every tiny thing you wouldn't usually think of. We did that, and we were quite surprised at how fast we not only got better but how it stopped the spread. So sorry you're sick. Blah. I'm kind of jealous of your weight loss, though.

You are simply the most amazing person...who else can turn something as horrific as the stomach flu into a humorous story like this? I hope all of you feel better soon!

I just realized I have a Google Account and can *sign* my comments (the one before this is mine, too).

Oh man, sorry to hear you're feeling so crummy. I have to say I got a good laugh out of the carb comment!
Be better, all of you!!

Sounds barfalicious...thankfully Kendrie did not share with me the other day. Poor Blaine!

We have no germs here in CO because it's so darn cold! I know that bug is going around here as well and hopefully my child will be able to dodge it.

I had to laugh when your first thought was Kendrie was using it to stall. That's always my knee-jerk reaction with LaRae as well. If she stays home sick she's in her bed, napping. Don't want to make staying at home too fun.

Praying everyone is feeling better and back in school soon!

Hug!

I hope you're all over this bug soon! And just think, in a year or two, you can teach your children to clean the toilet because it is a "life skill" that they will "need" to know before they go to college. Isn't that why we all had children, to teach them these important life skills like laundry, washing dishes, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, etc.? Before you ask, no, mine don't do any of this yet. We're still working on "Clean your room! I'm serious this time!" and "Dishes to the sink!"

Get better quick! We need you for our daily dose of laughter!

Let me continue to gross you out a little... I was reading in the paper last week about the stomach flu and they said that the virus continues to be alive or active (something along those lines) in your stool for three more weeks after you get better. So make sure they wash their hands.

I hope and pray that Blaine soon gets his scans, the results are good, he doesn't start puking and you can all get back to normal. It would seem that old Lager is the healthiest member of your family at the moment. Give him a pat for me - I swear dogs keep a family sane in trying times...and I think your last few years have qualified as 'trying'. Love and prayers.

ROTFLMAO! That song is hilarious! Who sings it??

And blessed are the children who can reach the bathroom before exploding for they shall be called beloved in their mother's eyes. I don't believe I have ever seen that particular milestone in any "What to Expect..." book, but it oughta be in there, right with learning to actually squeeze and wipe AFTER blowing one's nose instead of just staring at contents of said blow.

Oh, I hear you, my friend. Eamonn and I lovingly shared the same stomach virus here YET AGAIN this past week and weekend. The same maid must be cleaning my toilet. I say we fire "her"! I've been lax on signing in. Let us know about Blaine. . .why don't you all just come skiing? I'm sure you feel like it after all that purging!

Only you, Kristie, could make something so lousy sound so funny. I have to stop by every day to read your blog and start my day with a little dose of reality topped with belly laughs. My life is so plain in comparison!

Hope everyone's health is on the upswing. Maybe you should have invested your extra pennies in Purell and Chlorox stock. You'd be rich!

In my house, we call that pukey dookey. I have friends that call it "the demon" because of the possession-like take over of your body.

Hope you are all feeling better soon!

Oh, Kristie, I am SO sorry. I hate vomiting more than anything on this earth. I will avoid it at all costs. And there's no worse feeling than the doom you feel when you know the puke is coming...

Ugh. And yeah, what happens to a house during a bug like this is just not pretty. Not pretty at all.

Am I making you feel better?
Just wanted to say...I've been there. I feel your pain. And your nausea.
