Today

Today, I went out for a leisurely breakfast with girlfriends.

And the baby angels sang and wept with happiness.

Today, I shopped at Target and none of the following -- candy, gum, toys, bouncy balls, flamin' hot cheetos, video games, Disney movies, or stuffed animals -- landed in my cart.

And the baby angels sang and wept with happiness.

Today, I sat in a doctor's office waiting for an appointment for half an hour, and not once did I have to worry about getting back to the sitter, or if the kids were ok at home.

And the baby angels sang and wept with happiness.

Today, I listened to the ipod player in my car and none of the following -- Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Naked Brothers Band, Emily Osment, Selena Gomez, or Demi Lovato -- played a single time.

And the baby angels sang and wept with happiness.

Today, I went for lunch at a restaurant none of my kids like -- and no-one complained.

And the baby angels sang and wept with happiness.

Today, the television never came on, which means none of the following -- Wizards of Waverly Place, iCarly, Drake and Josh, Suite Life on Deck, the Othersiders, or Malcolm in the Middle -- crossed my eyes or my brain even once.

And the baby angels sang and wept with happiness.

Can you guess what else happened today?

My kids started back to school.

And Kristie sang and wept with happiness.

Aww. Your kids are so cute. Look how happy they look:)

Mine started back last Thurs. And I wept with sorrow. I know, :SLAP:, WTH is wrong with me? I so love the summer and the kids home and the sorrow is compounded since my oldest is 15 and I feel like I am running out of summers to spend with her and now I am bawling again, damnitt.

So nice to read you had a good day!

I cried. More than once. But I think I am done. Now I just have so much bickering when they all get home, and its from the one who did not even go to school!
Will you take all of our photos whenever we are in the same place? I promise, it won't hurt my feelings if I see you taking the same photos at the same time. I will just be thankful.

Woo hoo! I'm with you. Mine started on Monday and it was awesome! The first thing I noticed on your pic was the hair. I guess I am just not used to Kellen's hair short. Are you used to it yet? And I love Brayden's hair she is turning into a beautiful young lady. And Kendrie is just adorable all around! Sounds like you had a great first day of school too! Go you!

Loved the picture! Mine start school the day after Labor Day and we haven't even been school shopping yet! Fun times ahead....

Loved the picture. The kids look terrific, and they are getting old. Mine are both in high school this year, which is just plain hard to believe....

Our kids don't start until Sept 8th, we're almost ready. When did Brayden get her hair cut? It's adorable - all three of them are adorable and getting so grown up, sigh.

Brayden's new haircut is beautiful - very classy and grown-up! I love it!!

Just had to say that those are some cute haircuts! Ok fine, Brayden's is more "grown up" than "cute" but she's still looking adorable & age appropriate- no small feat these days.

My kids are gone for the week with grandma and grandpa and I am certaing the baby angels were singing and weeping small angel tears. Or maybe that was me? Reality returns on sunday night...

Before you know you'll be spending every free hour at the schools doing something that some else couldn't, or more likely wouldn't, do. Enjoy your few free moments.

My daughter just started her last semester at UGA. Tuesday morning I got a text that said "This is my last first day of school". My wallet was rejoicing, but my heart was a little sad. Enjoy this while you can!

Mine start on September 1st and I will be crying with sadness because I go back to work that day. I work at the middle school. Ugh.

Ditto, Ditto, Ditto...... The kids look so, so happy to be starting school. Surprising considering the awesome summer they had. And Brayden's haircut.... she's growing up to be such a lovely young woman, and boy did you ever get your money's worth with her braces. Seems like just yesterday that I was lurking on Kendrie's caringbridge site via Julianna's. Now all of those imaginary posts that you and Terry used to write about the girls growing older is true.......

I just can't believe how fast your kids are growing up. I can't believe how fast my own is growing up.... In the words of the 10,000 maniacs, "these are the days......."

Brayden looks GORGEOUS! And Kellen's haircut is so CUTE! Kendrie is, as always, so adorable. You've got a beautiful family. :)

Love Brayden's hair! And I wish I could hear just a tiny bit of the baby angel song; school's been in session for two weeks, and I've probably spent 40 hours or more of volunteer time either AT school or at home doing stuff FOR school. For free. I am starting to understand why my boy doesn't like school. Have big fun... don't give the angels laryngitis!
