Nothing

This is a post about nothing.

Because that's pretty much what I've been doing lately.

Oh, I don't mean I've been doing "nothing" .... no, quite the contrary. I've been running around like a chicken with my head cut off. It's just that I've been doing NOTHING interesting enough to write about here.

To recap:

I spent an entire day grocery shopping (remember, I only go once a month, so buying 30-days worth of life's essentials like Cheese Nips and Cinnamon Toast Crunch can take a while ....) BUT! I saved $55.32 in coupons --- not too shabby, if I say so myself.

I got my windshield replaced. (snore)

I got highlights and a haircut. (interesting to me, but not to anyone else.)

I'm getting a collision appraisal from that time in January I backed up into a truck in a parking lot.

I've had the same load of laundry in the washing machine for three days now and I keep having to re-wash it every morning to get rid of that musty smell yet can I remember to put it in the dryer? No, no I cannot. And on this topic, does anyone have any laundry detergent suggestions that will make my clothes smell clothes-line fresh?

See? See how low I've resorted? A blog post asking for laundry detergent recommendations???

Kellen and I are traveling to Arkansas for a soccer tournament this weekend. Maybe I'll get lucky and something exciting and funny and blog-worthy will happen while I'm there. Although it better not be car-related. Because I've got a new windshield and if somebody flings a rock at me on the highway and chips it, I'm going to be extremely annoyed.

The end.

I make my own laundry detergent. You can pick what kind you would like to make.So many recipes oh my! Just google it. This is simple and easy I love making our laundry detergent and it saves me big money at the store each month! Your clothes will smell good you put in whatever essential oil scent you want in your detergent.Good Luck..

There must be something in the air to elicit "pointless" entries. I just posted one myself. Hopefully they won't shut my blog down because of it.

How is Blaine doing?

I tried doing my own highlights yesterday. We won't talk about the results, I'm sure yours are MUCH better. Show pictures!!

Is it bad that I get excited to leave a comment about the best smelling detergent?? Yea, my life is pathetic too...
The trick is, change fragrences each time you buy a new jug. I like to use Tide liquid, mountain, or original and I also like Purex, mountain (green cap) and blue cap. Then, you HAVE to use Downey, and I change this up each time too, from moutain, to april fresh to the other scent (blue, pink, and green lids). I wash in cold water for all my nice clothes that I hang up to dry and the ones that really do not get that dirty. and I wash whites and towel and DH work clothes in hot water. Than, last, I use the strongest scent of Bounce dryer sheets I can find. Yummmmm, People have even stopped me to ask what I wash my cloths in cause they smell good,

Now, all the tree huggers out there are going to be all over this and say I am poluting the earth... to this I say sorry and I don't want to hear it. I have changed a lot of things I do to go "green" but this is one I refuse to change.

I can't much help with the detergent as I usually buy whatever is cheapest! Mainly Purex or ALL from thr local Walmart. I also have a problem remembering to switch clothes to the dryer lol.

Hi Kristi,

This is the first time I've written on your blog - but been following you since the caringbridge days. I use purex and then suavitel fabric softner. The two scents together are so fresh! I've had people stop and ask me what I use. (and it's one of the cheapest out there). I love the purple one.

no real suggestions here, except I do use downy on my towels. We (me and Alexis) are allergic to most detergents. So I use a "free" scent, thrilling huh. I used to use Tide, only one that I can use scented on, but not Alexis nope she has to be difficult. Now I use All or purex whichever is cheaper as long as it is "free".

Yes, how is Blaine doing? So when do you want to meet up in Flordia again, lol.

I find that it is a good idea to dry my clothes before re-washing them if they become musty. Somehow, that always seems to make the smell go away more effectively. Having said that, I air-dry my clothes the vast majority of the time - the heat of the dryer might help to fix the smell in the clothes.

I make my own soap, but would not be brave enough to make my own laundry detergent. I suspect I would get the mix all wrong and it would make my clothes greasy. But, you know, I am sure that you have lots of time to experiment with making your own detergent. It's not as though you do anything else, is it? ;-)

I realise that I have said nothing of any help to you, but given that I have made the, erm, effort, you shall get to hear it anyway. It will make your day, I am sure. :-D

Check out smellywasher.com; I haven't tried it yet, but I plan to because I do the same thing with not getting the laundry from the washer to the dryer. Plus, the Downy in the light yellow bottle with the peach top is divine!

Wow, people actually make laundry detergent and soap...........

I'm a Tide and Downy sheets girl myself. My mom, who once had a dream of opening her own laundry mat because she likes to wash and fold clothes so much, has the best smelling clothes. She too uses Tide and Downy, but I think that hers look and smell so much better than mine because she folds/hangs them as soon as the buzzer on the dryer goes off. She also uses the Downy sheets AND liquid, which probably has a lot to do with it.

That's AWESOME about the coupons. I'm a clipper too. And, I never, ever shop online without using a site like dealtaker.com or another coupon site.

Have fun in Arkansas!

I put about a cup of vinegar and some baking soda (along with the regular detergent)in my laundry that needs a little more refreshed! It usually takes out all odors!

funny, i wash and re-wash every load of laundry of mine at least 3 times and it's not due to any OCD tendencies.

Melaleuca. I dig it and it's natural. Remember, that fresh smell from laundry detergent is usually from a chemical and it's next to your skin. My children, the whitest and fairest of them all can't tolerate it anyway. But I think I'm going to do like anonymous said and google how to make my own. How cool is that?

I tried to leave this blank for a nothing comment but it won't let me...have fun in Arkansas...I would leave a joke but the only Arkansas ones I know are nto politically correct :)

Tide total care is yummy smelling. I think I read somewhere that you can put baking soda in to get rid of that musty smell!

I'm cracking up about the detergent comments, but I do have to say that I always know when my loving wife is using a new scent of detergent. We enter our house from the garage through the laundry room and you can immediately tell when there's a new scent, so Brandi must be on to something there.
Regarding the windshield - you really should have waited until you got back from Arkansas. I'll wish you the best though.

White vinegar in the washer with detergent -- gets that skunky smell out. (And doesn't leave them smelling like vinegar, either)

Oh, that's too funny. I thought I was the only one to wash, re-wash and re-wash again the same load of laundry. In fact, I thought I was the reason for the water shortage in Georgia...I keep rewashing the same load of laundry over and over again! lol...too funny.

What you need is a clothes drying rack then you can simply take your clothes from the washer to the rack and get your air dried smell natuarally. Save you all kinds of money as well.
