My mom, who once had a dream of opening her own laundry mat because she likes to wash and fold clothes so much, has the best smelling clothes. She too uses Tide and Downy, but I think that hers look and smell so much better than mine because she folds/hangs them as soon as the buzzer on the dryer goes off. She also uses the Downy sheets AND liquid, which probably has a lot to do with it.

That's AWESOME about the coupons. I'm a clipper too. Somehow, that always seems to make the smell go away more effectively. Having said that, I air-dry my clothes the vast majority of the time - the heat of the dryer might help to fix the smell in the clothes.

I make my own soap, but would not be brave enough to make my own laundry detergent. I suspect I would get the mix all wrong and it would make my clothes greasy. But, you know, I am sure that you have lots of time to experiment with making your own detergent. It's not as though you do anything else, is it? ;-)

I realise that I have said nothing of any help to you, but given that I have made the, erm, effort, you shall get to hear it anyway. We (me and Alexis) are allergic to most detergents. So I use a "free" scent, thrilling huh. I used to use Tide, only one that I can use scented on, but not Alexis nope she has to be difficult. Now I use All or purex whichever is cheaper as long as it is "free".

Yes, how is Blaine doing? Yea, my life is pathetic too...
The trick is, change fragrences each time you buy a new jug. I like to use Tide liquid, mountain, or original and I also like Purex, mountain (green cap) and blue cap. Then, you HAVE to use Downey, and I change this up each time too, from moutain, to april fresh to the other scent (blue, pink, and green lids). I wash in cold water for all my nice clothes that I hang up to dry and the ones that really do not get that dirty. and I wash whites and towel and DH work clothes in hot water. Than, last, I use the strongest scent of Bounce dryer sheets I can find. Yummmmm, People have even stopped me to ask what I wash my cloths in cause they smell good,

Now, all the tree huggers out there are going to be all over this and say I am poluting the earth... to this I say sorry and I don't want to hear it.
