Shell-Shocked

"Um, what exactly has happened here???"

"Where exactly did my mother go? And my brothers and sisters? And *who* exactly are these little people who keep picking me up and carrying me around???"

"And what's up with that tall lady who keeps rushing me outside and making me potty in the grass? Oooh, look, new toys .... squeakers and tug of war ropes and nylabones and hey look! A big red bottle that squirts and says 'pet stain removal' on the side ... wonder if I can play with that, too?"

Welcome home Barley! I was just thinking about you, Kristie, wondering how your first night at home with a new baby went. Hope you got some sleep! She's adorable, I just want to kiss the top of that puppy head and her little nosey. Damn you and your pictures, it's making me really really want a puppy! Have a fun day with Barley!

Barley is just adorable! There's nothing that says "cute" like a brand new puppy. I just hope the fighting over who gets to walk her, who gets to feed her, who gets to hold her, etc. stops soon so you can have some peace and quiet in the house!

What a cutie! I always wanted a puppy, but my mom hates all things furry, and now that I moved out, I can't afford one. If I could, I would totally break the rule about no pets in the apartment.

(Actually, I already have... I have a fish! But he lives with his other mom right now.)

Barley is so cute! She looks so soft and cuddly! Keep posting pictures so I can live vicariously through you guys and not have to go out and get one of my own. ;)

Barley is a beauty! What a precious puppy face... bet she's gonna be gorgeous when she's all grown up. But hunting dog? Don't know 'bout that.... y'all better go ahead and get that pound puppy soon, or Barley isn't going to want to work for her keep!

Beautiful puppy and a great name, very happy for you all, a new addition to love.
My youngest sister has a new pup (he's rather large now, however!), a lab/retriever cross, they named him Huckleberry and call him 'Huck'. This can be amusing at the off leash park, when some other folks will ask, 'Um, WHAT is your dog's name? OHHHH, *H-uck*, that's good!I wasn't sure just what you were yelling...' :-))

YAY for puppies! My cousins recently welcomed home a retriever puppy named Ellie, too. Unfortunately, Ellie thinks their other dog (a Maltese - sp?) is a toy and uses her tail as dental floss, so the Maltese spends much of her time at my parents' house. It was supposed to be temporary, but my dad has fallen in love with the little thing...go figure!

Good luck with your own puppy training! I know the kids will have a blast with Barley!

Oh my, how cute! Just this time last year we had gotten our little chocolate lab! Now he is a big lump of dumb puppy who still chews everything up! We love him lots though. The chewing will abate in a year or two!

Take advantage of the kids' wanting to take care of the puppy. Because once the newness wears off, they won't be arguing over who GETS to take care of her but instead they will argue over who HAS to do it! Ha! (At least that is how it always worked when my kids were small.)

Kendrie and Barley should be in a pet/owner look-a-like contest. :) The last picture would win for sure.

Hi Kristie, It's been a long time, but we also got a puppy. Ours is 14 weeks old and man is she a lot of work. Her name is Meg. So welcome back to the watch where you step family.

Is there anything cuter than a puppy? Ours is now 10 months old and a pure delight.

Barley had got to be one of the cutest dogs around. He looks like a big old teddy bear!
I hope he brings your family years of love and joy.

That wakeboard picture was, well, that was awesome! I think the cars look good, too, or maybe I've had too much to drink. I'm just anxious to see some of the new camera's tricks.
