Do You Know What Today Is?

That's right, time for the annual Back to School tradition of Hallelujah Chorus on this site.

It's all about the shoes. And the new clothes, and school supply lists, and backpacks. And the fact mom got to run errands today for the first time in nine endless weeks without her three little helpers, something worthy of the Hallelujah Chorus all by itself, is all I'm saying.

I'm back....Just so you know, I haven't forgotten about you, it is just that as of late, I've just had an estranged relationship with the internet. I was in Chicago for a couple of weeks, and wireless internet is not all it is cut out to be. But never fear, now I am home, and re-attached to my parents dsl modem. I can't believe that the kids are back in school, but then when I think about it, technically, I should be in preplanning, but thanks to my impending cross-country move, I don't have to do anything until some 'new teacher talk' next Tuesday, even though I'm not a new teacher. I hope that Brayden, Kellen, and Kendrie had a wonderful day! They look so happy in their pictures! Oh, and p.s. my parents used to have an Alaskan Malamute (sp?) until it ate all of our wicker furniture, but my mom would still find its fur years later because it sheded so much. It was crazy! I hope that you have a wonderful week!

Summer here is 3 freaking months long. The men with the white coats are waiting to take me away. . .but I'm happy for you though!

However, isn't the fact that the kids' summer vacation is already over going to make the High School Musical 2 premiere kind of anticlimactic? I think Disney needs to work on their timing.

OMG! I wish my kids were going back today you lucky dog!
We still have three more weeks of vacation but I am singing that chorus in my head counting down the days!
Thanks, as always, for entertaining me!

And, btw - a side note... went this past weekend out of town and found a sonic drive in - not around my home but in central CA and had a diet coke (but would have had a diet dp if I liked that!) in a sonic cup with that wonderful ice...
and thought of you - and you made me smile!... I could see an addiction if there was one close to me!

Thanks for always sharing...

So when will your kids get out of school at the end of the summer! We don't start here in TX till Aug 27, and I don't think they get out of school until June 5 or so!

First day of school already? My kids don't go back until Sept. 4! Their last day of school was June 21.

School already?! My daughter doesn't go back until Sept. 4th! Our school district just finished summer school last Friday. But school didn't end until June 14th either. So does the chorus rejoice during the entire school year or is there a moment that comes and you wish they were back?

WOW! My kids don't know how good they've got it...They get out for summer vacation the last day of May and don't go back until September 4. For me, it's not long enough of a vacation. I just love having the kids home with me in the summer, we do so many fun things. We haven't even started our back to school shopping- come to think of it, I better get shopping! Well, we are wishing your kids a very wonderful school year, they all look so cute, oops! I mean nice, in their new outfits. Have a fun day, Brandi

In Michigan, public schools cannot start until after Labor Day. God forbid that getting our children ready for the world interfere with the Travel Industry.

School here starts two weeks later this year, so the kids don't go back until the 28th. But, I have already done some school supply shopping. Dalton still needs a backpack and lunch box, but I think we have the rest.

Kristie,
You lucky, lucky woman!! My kids don't start until the 21st, yuck. Your kids are sooooo cute!!

Woohoo! I'll be singing the same song on the 23rd. You're so lucky your punks are going today! But I send my oldest to college on the 16th, so you'll probably hear my sobs from Georgia! Love the vacation pics, I'm vying for a trip like that for my 50th birthday. Ya think?? Love you tons!

I am SOOO jealous!! School starts in Brookville Ohio on Ausg 23rd and I am counting...yes, counting the days just like the kids do for summer vacation! As we speak, everyone is in separate rooms, its only 11 am and I am TIRED of being a referee...So I am inpatiently waiting for the first day of school for the oldest three and the first day of preschool (where's my baby gone) for the youngest.

Having lived all my life in Upstate NY, I can't imagine school starting before Labor Day! Heavens we are still in summer school until August 17th. (School ended June 24th)

We have a moms' breakfast on the first day of school. No mimosas but plenty of laughs!

Enjoy your first day of freedom - the hours will go by so fast! And my goodness, your kids are getting more beautiful as they grow up.

Kristie,

This is a bittersweet post for me because for the first time in 18 years, I have no children going back to grade school this fall. Does anyone know how weird it feels to have all your children over the age of 18? Old. Very old. Very, VERY old. That's how it makes you feel.

You are sooooo lucky! We have 2 more weeks of summer vacation left here - school starts on Aug. 22! I have a few little items left to pick up, like cheap sneakers to stay at school. At least one child will be getting her hair cut this week so that no one mistakes her for a sheepdog! The other one is still working on the Rapunzel look.

I'll be singing the Hallelujah Chorus myself on the 2nd day of school (parents have to attend a meeting on the first day of school here).

Hope you all have a great school year!

If we hadn't moved this summer I would have been singing that today. Instead, I have 6 more days to countdown. Is it tomorrow yet?
Happy First Day of School to the kids!

My daughter starts on Monday!

Wow, joining the after Labor Day crowd here. Being it was 100 degrees outside today (and felt more like 105)I can't imagine sending my monsters back to school. Back to Pool is more like it, lol. We have another month of summer vacation left.

Wow, am I in the Minority here or what! My kids don't start back until Sept 4th and I am thrilled! (I'm with Brandi!) I am in Michigan and applaud the state government for giving kids the whole summer off! And our last day of school was May 30th! We still have one more vacation to go on before school starts . . . the nice thing is that while we are on vacation, everyone else is back in school and EVERYTHING is less crowded and considered "off season" most of the time. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the extended vacation!

On a completely different note, my sister-in-law was recently diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer (highly curable, Thank God) but has also started a brand new blog. Please visit her and leave a little note. I know she would love it: www.mebrawley.blogspot.com
thanks!

Did you move to Oklahoma ? Did I miss something?

Anonymous said...

I'm one of those moms who loves having my kid time. I miss them already, and they don't even start back until August 13! What I'm NOT happy about is receiving two separate supply lists. We received the supply list a couple weeks ago and I bought everything so I wouldn't have to think about it and ruin the rest of our summer. Then last night at orientation we received another supply list with an ADDITIONAL TWENTY items on it, including two reams of copy paper, paper towels, and other "community" items. Silly me, I always thought "school supplies" meant supplies for MY kids, not supplies for the school. I'm surprised we didn't have to buy fluorescent light bulbs! Oh well, sorry...just had to vent.

Brayden looks adorable with her braces. How did I miss those in previous pictures? Am I just way behind? I love the back-to-school pictures of all three kids. The shoes are GREAT!!!
