Adam Lambert on American Idol

I am a 42-yr old, happily married, chubby stay-at-home mother of three .........

who has a wee bit of a crush on a 26 yr old singer from California who wears eye liner, black nail polish, and who may or may not be gay.

I'd say there's something wrong with that, but then I watch another of his videos on Youtube, and the crushing begins again.

Holy cow, can that kid sing. And if he's even half as pleasant and polite and respectful as he comes across on tv, I will like him even more.

Hey, I hear you. I'm a 37 year old single working professional (medical doctor) and I share your crush! And boy am I enjoying it.

Vote Adam for the win!

He's from virtually down the street from me. He grew up with friends of mine and I have old pictures of him when he was just a little high schooler. He's a very nice kid.

When we were at the taping Motown week my friends talked with him afterwards and said he was very nice and gracious. His folks were cool, too. Actually, speaking of cool parents, Anoop had VERY sweet parents and they were a riot talking with everyone, and Allison's mom, as well!

I felt the same way last season about Jason Castro. I have only seen a little AI this season, but was completely blown away by Mad World. This guy is probably the most talented performer ever on Idol. I still love me some Dreadhead, though.

My mom had a crush on Jason Castro too. Heard he just signed a record deal. I stop watching after the auditions, so I'll have to look Adam up...

Yeah, well, I'm 43 and watching his youtube videos. Love him in Dancing Through Life, he's darling. And in As Long as You're Mine....swoon...

I love him!

Love him!

Yeah, I love me some Adam too. Hard to believe he hasn't been discovered yet. Speaking of which, have you checked out the vids of this woman named Susan Boyle from the 'Britain's got Talent' show? It's a Youtube sensation, this frumpy 47 yr old woman comes out and everyone laughed at her till she opened her mouth to sing...

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!

He seems like a polite, nice, and well-adjusted dude, but his voice is so screechy that I need ear-drum transplants after listening to him.

Plus, he needs to get a haircut, wash off the make-up, and get voted off immediately.

Oh! And he needs to STOP acting like he's having sex with the camera. Vomit! What, is he, like, 8 years old and acting all nasty on TV?! Eeeeewww!

But whatever.

It's not like I've been watching the show or anything. You know, what with all the super-modeling I've been doing lately.

jadine said...

I should add that my son has the exact same haircut right now (but brown), and I hate it. But I let him have it like that because I'm weak. And! my kid would totally love to be the nameless dude of which you speak.

(Still tasting vomit).

P.S. Sorry, because I really want to agree with you and your comment-ers. But I can't. I just can't.

LOL. What totally won me over is when they compared him to Edward. SWOON!

Love your blog, btw!

You're right! He's way cool and quite polished as a performer. He should win. He's the best. But, my heart is with Danny Gokey.

Wow, Kristie! I'm starting to think that you and I are twins who were separated at birth! I started following your blog a few weeks ago, after reading about your family on Jen Wilkins' site. I often laugh right out loud when I am reading it; I can SO relate to the things that you write about. But today... your post about Adam Lambert could have been written by me! In fact, this is what I sent to my girlfriends the morning after he performed Mad World: "I want to share my new (albeit gay) boyfriend with you, in case you girls missed American Idol. Is it wrong for a 45 year-old mother of two to completely obsess over him?!!"

S'up in Pflugerville, Jadine? I'd be awfully lonely over here without you! But you make it a party, girlfriend! We don't need no stinkin' Ring of Fire...

MY mom is almost 66 and she loves Adam. I hear her gush about him.

LOL, you are not alone. I'm 42 yr old mom and think he's the greatest. I've even bought all his stuff on iTunes.... (I need him in better quality than youtube!) He's awesome. I hope the tour comes to the BOK center again this year.

Well, I'm 49, very chubby, and happily married for the past 24 years, and I am having a MAJOR, out in the open crush on Adam......Paula's right (for once)...he's mick jagger and steven tyler all in one!!!!

You would not be alone... at the risk of sounding like a groupie... I've even downloaded two of his songs off of Itunes.

Amen sister, couldn't have said it better myself, except mine would have said '43 year old'. He's the only one I look forward to seeing each week and I go a step further. I watch his performances on youtube EVERY day. He just has to win.

There is Adam, then there are all the other contestants group in a huddle down the hall. He is American Idol this season.

I don't have a crush on him, I just know awesome when I see it.

I keep hearing about this guy, but haven't been able to watch Idol for sometime (something about not having digital converter box, yadda yadda...). I will have to check 'em out!

My husband thinks he's gay, but I don't care! I have a huge crush on him too. So if your crazy, then I am too!!

Not to spam this guestbook, but there is a website called "MJ's Big Blog" that discusses all things idol. They have links to all the performances and clips from interviews and also post song spoilers on the day of the performance (from someone watching the practice).

PS to Melissa: Yes, Jason Castro just signed a record deal (with Atlantic, I think?) and is writing and recording an album to be released this summer. He's working with Kara Dioguardi (idol judge) on the writing.

Seriously...did you say may or may not be gay?! Straight guys don't wear those jeans! I agree he is good, but kinda' with Pam & Jadine on this one. Just doesn't do it for me. I am all about Danny and I have now evaluated them without and with percocet! :) Kim

OK - I could have written your very first line, except I'd have to change it to to two kids.

Actually, I could have written your entire post. Watching Adam Lambert makes me feel happy and dirty simultaneously.

But ... his tongue thing kind of grosses me out. I wish he'd keep it entirely in his mouth.

I love AI, I am with Jadine and Pam and the others though..He needs to go...Eww! He is so gross with his make-up, nail polish, tight jeans, No, he is NOT MY American Idol..I am all about Danny...Go Danny....and I also loved Jason last year, what a sweetheart he was, so glad to hear he has a record deal. I am also glad we all get to have our opinions without having a fight...LOL

Can't say that I have the hots for Adam . . . but totally totally totally love his singing. He's a game changer, for sure. Mad World just killed me . . . couldn't stop listening to it.

It's because he channels Elivis. Although, Adam's Priscilla is probably called Preston, and Elvis probably wouldn't wear Opi's Lincoln Park After Dark on his fingernails. But I agree!

he is a cutie for sure. love the little stash.

I'm going to have to join Jadine & Pam in the corner. I DVR AI and usually fast forward through him. Kris is my fav

Sorry I just had to post. Yucko, do not like Adam. His screeching hurts my ears. Ooooh not attracted to guys who spend more time getting ready than me. The hair, the eyeliner, the nailpolish, the jeans, ugh grosses me out. I actually have to fast forward through his performances, can't stand to look at him!! Now this 40 yo happily married woman has crushes on Danny and Kris. So sweet those boys are, nice and clean cut, thats my style!!!

Call me unhip, but I SO, SO, SO don't get American Idol....... I watched it a few years ago, in the beginning, but now...... I have absolutely NO desire to see it ever again. Call me a snot, but I realy think that it's just, well..... so..... pathetic..... and the attitude of the judges, from Paula's slurring to Simon's arrogance, just irritates me. My mom and sister, much to my dismay, can tell you EVERY single, detail about it and faithfully stand by their favorites as you do by Adam, who I've heard entirely too much about from my mom :) While I might feel a wee bit left out of the "AI" mania, I just don't now, nor ever will, get it, I guess..... The only major network, prime time. show that we watch is the Amazing Race, and even that irritates me........ My favorite shows are Jon & Kate and the Duggars.

Hi Kristie,
I have been away from internet land for two weeks. I went home to help my sister out. They suddenly found out my niece (12 years old) has ALL. I stayed with them in the hospital so her husband could go home. I just got home today and have only read this one entry, but it totally cracked me up!! Cause I am the same way!! I love Adam!! Man, he can sing! And he is soooooo cute!! Oh goodness! Even the nurses were watching!
Shanda
p.s. I may have some ALL questions for you later.

I am SO with you!!! There is just something about that kid that makes me swoon!!!

I think he has the most clear voice I have ever heard...and that is live, can you imagine how great it would sound recorded.

I have downloaded his "track of my tears" from i-tunes and listen to it all the time!!!!

I think he will win!!!!

Kristie, I just discovered something on Pioneer Woman; you have podophobia.

All this love for Adam, and yet only one comment showing adoration for my beloved Kris? Blasphemy!

Adam seems like an awfully nice person and I'd quite like to go shopping with him and talk about boys, but the screeching makes my head hurt a little.

Gin said...

Add me to the list of moms who have the hots for Adam! His voice and smile is awesome. Oh, and his eyes. He is definitely gay though and is also a drag queen. lol Just google him and you will see graphic pictures of him making out with his boyfriend. His bf is usually in the audience watching. I don't care though.....there's just something about him! lmao

With all due respect, it is not 'screaming' when you are never out of tune, pitchy or off-key. I get so fed up of everyone using this term. It takes immense talent & ability to hone and control your range like that, IMMENSE. The number of people who are capable of this is tiny. He hits the high notes incredibly smoothly and meets both ends of his register with ease - look up his pre Idol videos to hear him singing in his lower register, it's gorgeous. Professional vocal critic MasterClassLady & expert site IdolRanges . com also confirm Lambert as the most able vocalist by far so even on a technical level, he sits WAY above the others. Obviously if you prefer Jack Johnson as opposed to the Robert Plant/Axl/Buckley wail, and don't get theatrical performers like Freddie/Prince/Bowie, Adam most probably won't be your thing either.

Hi girl, new here and happy to be so. If you feel guilty about the age and (probs definitely) gay thing, I have a most wonderful alternative for you --- Pat Monahan, solo artist and lead singer of Train. YUMMY. They're a lot of like and ... you will never be the same again :)
