The Rock. And I don't mean Dwayne Johnson.

Neurosurgeon: It's not that it's "inoperable", exactly. Just that the cavernous sinus cavity (located in the skull, behind and slightly below the eye, but not technically in the brain, just like everyone said) has lots going on with it. The internal carotid artery runs through it, cranial nerves, and the opthalmic vein. So unless its life or death, or the patient is already blind ..... neither of which describe your situation .... I prefer not to operate. I am going to recommend more radiation.

Blaine: No surgery??

Kristie: *Only* radiation??

Blaine: Yeah!!

Kristie: Yippee!!

Blaine: No surgery, hurrah!!!!!!!

Sometimes, when you're between a rock and a hard place, the rock doesn't look so unappealing.

Any piece of good news between the rock and a hard place is welcome.

I must agree with vgsmom. radiation rather than surgery sounds like good news to me.

Oh Kristie--- I imagine it must have been at least teensy weensy bit comforting to have the neurosurgeon say that the tumor isn't on Blaine's brain. It just stinks that you have to "celebrate" the fact that he is getting radiation. Though a zap does sound much better than a knife. I will definitely be praying that the Lord guides the hands of the individual performing the radiation and EVERY SINGLE SMIDGEON OF c is obliterated.

Yay!
Hugs to Blaine.

...and you will also be able to locate Blaine on google earth...just follow his glow! But seriously, radiation would be my choice too.

Prayers from CA!

The radiation won't affect his already troubled areas right? He will not have more swallowing/salivating problems, will he?

I would imagine the "aim" would be a little different this time.

So glad to hear that they believe radiation will be successful.

Every little piece of good news is welcome!! It does suck to be pleased with Radiation!

I had thyroid cancer...I have been told that if you have to have cancer that is the one to have. I think I would have chosen "no cancer" if given the choice, but I do feel blessed to have a "good" cancer.

It's all about perspective, isn't it? I'm happy if you're happy! I know that's so important to you. . .

Kristie, this is one of my favorite scriptures of ALL time, and though I don't usually put scripture in your guestbook, for this post it just fits:
"I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a ROCK and gave me a firm place to stand." Psalm 40:1-2
That ROCK? Is the reason you all got baptized.. and that ROCK.. is where you want to be. Thankful for the rock, because it IS so much better than the hard place! Keeping you all in my prayers... always...

I just wanted you to know I continue praying for Blaine, that the radiation will zap the cancer away. God Bless.
