According to Blaine, they really *are* losers with a capital “L”

So you know my favorite show right now is The Biggest Loser, and we record it so we can watch it when it’s convenient. Blaine could care less about the show, but we were having quality family time tonight and all watching together, Blaine included. Well, except for Kendrie, who is in bed with a sore throat and a fever of 101 …. Guess letting her spend the night last weekend with her cousin, who had just been diagnosed with strep, wasn’t such a stroke of genius on my part.

First they showed a re-cap of last week when Mark got voted off and he was crying, then they showed his brother Jay crying because he was so sad to see Mark go. Then Dan started crying when was overwhelmed, realizing how much weight he has lost and how much physical progress he has made, then Bernie started crying when he was talking to his family about supporting him in his weight-loss goals.

This is the following conversation that took place, which sort of makes Blaine sound like a caveman, but which made me giggle, so I’m going to share:

Blaine: Oh Geez, is there another one crying? There’s too much crying on this show.

Kristie: Blaine, think about it. These people have worked so hard to achieve their goals, and what they've accomplished is so huge, I’m sure they’re simply overcome at times.

Blaine: I don’t care. They’re crying like little girls.

Kristie: Blaine! That guy lost one hundred pounds … ONE HUNDRED POUNDS! Don’t you think that entitles him to shed a few tears of joy??

Blaine: I don’t care --- Was it a hundred pounds of testosterone he lost?? Because that’s the only thing that would explain all the damn crying.

Blaine is right. Way too much crying by men lately. They need to suck it up.

I agree with Blaine, too much crying everywhere. The kids on American Idol boohoo way too much when someone leaves... irritates me. If you are gonna cry, you damn well better have a good reason. :)

I dont mind the guys so much because it is just an every once in a while deal....the one I cant stand is KELLY!!!! She crys every damn week, without a doubt, it never fails. And it is never, ever tears of joy! I cant stand it! Go home already! Ok, I feel much better now after my rant.
Have a great weekend.

LOL It must be a guy thing. My husband said the same thing, although not as nicely as Blaine...he said "they've turned them all into b**chs" (Sidenote - the kids were not in the room, we do not swear in front of them)

This post brought me out of lurkdome because my hubby and I had that almost same conversation Tuesday night. I too love this show but you would think it would inspire me? Does eating a bowl of buttery popcorn while watching count as inspiration, LOL?

Too funny! They do cry a lot and I am surprised that men will cry like that on national tv, but they have overcome HUGE obstacles. Plus, I'm an emotional person and will cry at almost anything, so I have sympathy for them.

Blaine is funny!!! No wonder he made you giggle!

That is so funny. Blaine should listen to the new song by Brad Paisley - I'm still a man. (Or something like that) He would get quite a kick out of it.

Baaaaaaahahahaa!

I am married to Richard. Richard cries at shows like that. I just look at him and say, "you're such a girl."

Now he cries and tries to hide it :)

OMG Kristie! My husband was recently 'wrapped' up into the Biggest Loser and I made him sit and watch the blubbering and even rewound it to watch it a few more times ... I must admit I laughed a lot watching all those big burley man cry like sniveling littlle girls. My husband proceeded to put his hand to his face and shake his head in disgust! Yeah - I am pretty sure he'd cry like a big baby if he lost 100 pounds in 9 weeks ... um, yeah I would!

Thanks for making me laugh - hope Kendrie feels better soon!

I and I'm sure my husband, agree completely with Grandma J.

"Blaine is right. Way too much crying by men lately. They need to suck it up."

Oh, gosh....that is SSSOOOOO funny! I said the same thing watching that episode when the crying went on and on and on. A little is OK but COME ON. That went forever! (I am one that has been inspired and even joined the biggestloserclub.com online and I've lost 18 pounds since 1-14!!! I love the show!!)

There was a lot of crying on Idol last night as well, and I was screamed at when I started talking about how Danny cried like a little girl when he was voted off..
I was told guys can show emotion too. My response? "Yeh, just not in public.."

I know it was a dumb thing to say, and I know it's ok for guys to cry in public.. Crap, I need to work on my come-backs..

I guess what I'm trying to say is I agree with everyone else on here, SUCK IT UP :)

Kristie,
My husband is the same way... lucky for me during the week he works nights and I have the TV to myself!

I never thought of it that way before. I'm with Blaine.
Although you better not let him watch any of my favorite reality shows because when I tried to watch this one the other night? He'd totally ruined it for me. I couldn't stand the wimpiness. (is that even a word?)
