Shockingly, very little

"What I accomplished during my mini-blogging-break, Alex" ..... ding, ding, ding!!!

Funny how I took five days off because I was sick of the computer, and what was the first thing that happened once I finally logged back in? I clicked "upgrade" for my Blogger account to take advantage of some new features, and wound up spending hours online trying to figure out a way to combine what I liked about my old template with what I like in the new. I'm still not sure I've married the two very well, so I'll give it a week to grow on me. Then, if I still grimace every time I see the new page opening up, I'll switch it back to the tried and true (and simple and plain and boring.)

In the meantime, here's the list of what I did on my Summer Blogging Break (Because I'm sure you're just dying to know):

**Went shopping for new jeans. Depressing.

**Visited the bombing memorial again.

**Really had to ask myself .... if I bought a new laptop over a week ago, and it's still sitting on the floor in the box ...... did I truly, truly need it?

**Lots of PTO crap junk stuff opportunities.

**Hosted a birthday party for Kendrie

**Technically, my sister hosted it, since she was kind enough to let us swim in her pool. At least until the storm blew in, at which point we bagged it and went to a movie.

**Figured out, thanks to a few of the comments on my latest photos, that if I take the UV lens off the camera, I can still get the natural-candlight photos that I like of my kids birthday cakes ... (thanks for the tip!)

**And wondered when on earth did Kendrie start this totally cheesy, jut-jawed, open-mouthed kind of smile? And how long will it last??? I guess following closely on the heels of the "my teeth must not show at any cost" close-lipped smile that she's done the past year or two, this should be a pleasant change. Strangly, it is not.

**One final day at the water park ..... which loosely translates into one final day of public swimsuit humiliation, thank goodness some things are over.

**Read three books (see sidebar).

**Watching Barley the fabulous guard-dog protect our family from the vicious dinosuars of the world .... oooops, doesn't look like she's doing too well.

**"Ahhhhh, victory is MINE! Take that you rogue dinosaur, and leave my human family alone or vengence will be mine as well!!!"

**Entered the eleventh circle of Hell (ie, shoe-shopping with Brayden) and lived to tell about it.

**Family night watching National Treasure and making smoothies. Have you seen that movie? If not, you really should.

**Took part in ginormous group bike ride around the lake (more on this later):

**Took a nap

**Hosted a sleepover (OK, I confess, the nap came AFTER this)

**Went off Atkins and practically swan-dived into the carbs ..... which leads to carb-hangover of the worst kind.

**Totally and completely LOST MY SHIT and snapped at the Homeland clerk, "Well, maybe next time you shouldn't ask that question unless you see a BABY'S HEAD COMING OUT!!!!!"

**Packing (more on this later)

**Other stuff I don't want to talk about right now.

**Sooooooo, what did *YOU* do while I was gone???

Wow! you got a lot done in a short time. My last few days would seem boring in comparison. Glad you're back to your blog.

And... Happy Birthday to Kendrie! Seems like such a short time ago that she was turning 6, and going O.T., and now look at her! Good luck, too, with that laptop....

Sat in a friend's house in Nashville and prayed that my home didn't flood.

Whoa, I just brought down the whole mood in the room, didn't I? But hey, as far as we know, our house, though without power, is still standing. Now we just need to wake up tomorrow and find the levees still intact and we can actually exhale for the first time since Friday.

Moved house (blah!!!), had our monthly hospital visit and checked on your blog (just to see you were serious about that break and I got some withdrawal symptoms...) :-)

I did the opposite of you...I am on blogging/computer overload. I spent a productive labor day weekend doing nothing more than constantly checking the computer. I need to go AWOL, too. STAT

I don't know you but I missed you.....
Of course, now I'm dying with all the "more on that later" business. :)

1-Happy Birthday Kendrie! :)
2- don't envy the shoe shopping at all!

3- in the time that you accomplished so much, I worked a bit, went back home to philly for 3 days, and spent a day at the lake. yeah, that's about it. Not too exciting.

Happy Birthday Kendrie!!

As for me, I did next to nothing to get our house ready to sell. Stressed out over the fact that we go back to St. Louis in 2 WEEKS and I have not prepared for that either. What to do with Britt while we are gone, Also, her baby, and the forgotten child, Tommy. (As an aside, when I worked at my last job, I mentioned Tommy one day. One of my co-workers said "I didn't know that you had 3 kids!I thought there was just Britt (teenage drama queen) and Alex (health issues). LOL
have a great week!

While you were gone, I spent most of the weekend at the soccer fields for my son's soccer tournament. But I also got a nap in.

Happy Birthday, Kendrie. Hope it's a good one.

We spent the past 3 days with Great friends from high school and all our kids....11 adults and 13 kids! We have done this on Labor Day weekend for the past 7 yrs straight and we really have the best time. People look at me funny when I say I'm spending the weekend with 23 other people in one cabin, but it's really not bad!
I like the new layout-really I didn't mind the other one! I DO like over there where you have the other blogs you like, that under it is listed how old the post is. I link to these after I read your blog everyday and it saves me time to know Danny is still talking about cheese and I can check on him later!!!

Glad you seemed to enjoy your break...sounds like you needed it!

Happy late b'day to Kendrie!!

Happy 9th birthday to Kendrie!

It sounds like you've been busy on your break, but we're glad you're back.

For what it's worth, I really like the new layout. The colors are great together and really soothing.

I went to St. Louis, stayed in the Ritz Carlton courtesy of my in-laws and raided the mini-fridge -- after specifically telling my kids and my dh not to.

I got duped by 3 11-year-old girls who I thought were asleep at 11:30pm, when really they were faking and didn't go to bed until 1:30am.

Spoke to or e-mailed at least one of each of my three children's teachers about some "issue requiring attention." It's only the 11th day of school.

Engaged in the "great underwear conversation" with my son.

Wrestled with the whether to have bariatric surgery, join Weight Watchers or just eat another ice cream bar. The ice cream won.

Awww, I LOVE Kendrie's new smile. She reminds me a bit of a blonde haired version of that cute little girl from the movie Matilda.

Happy Birthday Kendrie!

I'll take the laptop if you don't need it. LOL! My husband is wanting a new laptop and I have no idea why...other than I've mentioned I would like a lightweight one...He only needs a machine that gets on the net and downloads mail because that is all he does. he doesn't even type emails...just downloads them for me. lol!
