Because amidst all the pity partying and drama and freaking out there is an actual life still going on ....

We spent our weekend:

Flailing our legs about on the soccer field.

Falling down. Because apparently that's what all the best players do. But did you know this is also considered an illegal kick? Because that is the foul Kellen had called on him for this play where he basically ..... was responding to that pesky gravity.

And celebrating with our team mates who thank heavens are more coordinated and actually scored enough points to win the game.

Kristie, did you know that Kellen is tall? And thin? :) Great pictures, by the way!

Kellen - congrats on the win! From the pictures, it looks like you're a really good player!

With legs that long, who could blame the poor kid for falling down? LOL.

I title the first pic "Karate Kid meets David Beckham".

Dang, Kellen is long and lanky! Yeah, you can't kick the ball when you are on the ground, but wait until slide tackles are legal (if they aren't already - don't know what age group/level he is playingat). There were three yellow cards pulled in Dalton's game this weekend (on the other team) and two of them were against kid's that fouled Dalton.

Kristi, I've been away for ten days, so I'm commenting on the soccer entry (yes, he's tall and lanky!!)... but I'm responding to your earlier entry.

I am so sorry. I cannot believe that your family is going through this again. I first started following your family on Kendries Caringbridge site. Your humor (in the face of awfulness) always amazed me.. your strength, and the obvious love you all have for each other always inspired me. I will put Blaine on our prayer list at church and we will pray, too.. for healing for Blaine, for you.. for your whole family as you face this monster AGAIN. I don't know what to say, except, I am so sorry that you are in this fight again. Please keep us posted, and know how many are out here pulling for all of you.

De-lurking to say that I've finally caught back up on your blog after my maternity leave, and I wanted to let you know that I'm sorry Blaine's cancer has come back, and I WILL be praying for you guys.

Also, Kellen has really shot up recently!! Wow.

That illegal kick...it's also the way to break a leg on the soccer field.

Been there.

Kristie, he's getting so tall! Look at those long legs! :) Honestly, it's a wonder he isn't on the ground all the time! :)

Great pics!

I was thinking Karate Kid on that first shot too. There, Halloween costume, check!

Hang in there!

Kellen looks so tall! Not that I've ever met him in person or anything.

Anyway, we spent our weekend NOT playing soccer b/c last weekend when Charlie did play soccer, he broke his wrist.

(Except I didn't believe him until about 24 hours later...nice, huh?! You can read all about it here:

When did Kellen get so tall? Life comes at you fast. Yeah, that's my latest saying about everything related to kids and grandkids growing up and old before my eyes.

Nice scoring team!!

Praying for you all. Especially the soccer teams :))

I have horribly long legs, too, and I must say coordination is not one of my strengths. It simply does not come with the territory. He may have gotten a foul, but at least he looks like he was having a good time!

Wow Kellen has really shot up in height lately! He's looking so much older! He looks great out on the soccer field! Love their uniforms.

Just a quick question.... Have you had to devise any costumes for school lately? ;)

OMG! I read Keeping Faith by Jodi P. on my cruise ~ per your suggestion. I couldn't put it down. I've started The Pact on cd... I love to drive and be read to. Talk about multitasking!
Can't wait to see some Alaska pics. Hopefully your weather wasn't quite as dreary as ours was the week before!
Still praying and praying some more for y'all. Hang in there.
