Facebook

I struggle to find time to update this blog. I haven't scrapbooked in months. My house is in disarray, I haven't put up the Halloween decorations yet, my library books are overdue and not yet read, and the laundry piles are about to overtake the family.

So what's a smart time-management strategy?

Why, join Facebook, of course.

And spend hours looking for old military friends, old co-workers, and people I haven't talked to since elementary school.

What a time-suck.

(sigh)

But guess what? I found the boy everyone had a crush on at 7th grade church camp!! (and no, I did *not* send him a friends request.)

Just watch out for the "People You May Know." There is nothing like having an ex pop up there, and knowing that he's probably got your face smiling at him too. Good stuff!

My Grandson told me Facebook is for grown-ups and My Space for young people !!! I have to say it is fun searching for people!!! I am nosy like that!!!

I recently joined facebook at the persistent nagging of my sister and friends.....I must say- I have had so much fun...and I am sorry to announce that it is highly addictive. I have pretty much given up anything else in life besides sitting in front of my computer. My hubby is not a fan of facebook...I can't figure out why :)

Facebook is great! Slightly addicting. Utilizing the "People you may know" tool is very interesting & I too haven't sent requests to 1/2 of the people I just happen to see on there.

I love Facebook! So addicting but I've re-connected to people I haven't seen in over 20 years!

Facebook has sucked me in too! I have found people I forgot I knew! It is a time killer though. I pull it up and then all of a suddden 2 hours have gone by.

Welcome to the addiction. You'd think I was in the military having lived on both coasts and in Texas in less than 10 years. I love the ability to reconnect with people this way!!

You will love facebook. It's so addictive. You'll love it!!! I've found a lot of friends from high school.

Yep, friends from high school, friends from college, friends from the military, from former work. But then, guess what? THIS brillant computer person (me) decided that I could combine my two email ID's into one Facebook page. Not such a great idea. I lost most of my contacts, and I discovered that it was, in reality, a blessing. I have more time, and I have less stress trying to keep up with all those wall posts and silly gifts and so on. So hey... IF you should happen to lose your page... count it a blessing! :<)

As I sit here, with piles of laundry on my couch, and a sink full of dishes (even though I picked up pizza for dinner tonight), I have to admit, that I am also a Facebook junkie.

I have had a blast finding my roommate from college, and posting old pictures of us doing crazy stuff back then. After I click "publish" on this, I am going to upload a picture to Facebook!!!

Yippee, another FB junkie!!! Welcome!!!

Oh, come on. Why didn't you send him a request? I've loved knowing what happened to old crushes and boyfriends. The first six old boyfriends I found on myspace were overweight, bald, and still single. It made me feel sooooo good!

Facebook is great. I discovered a former work friend in Turkey, three cousins in England, and numerous neighbors. Due to my crazy need to keep my blog personal, I don't list my blog addess on the Facebook page. Perhaps, I will eventually, but for now I like to be able to veny about friends and family.

Oh, if you are looking for another time waster, try www.twitter.com It is an online messaging service. It's free. I follow a number of people and other people follow me. I read little updates about everyone's day throughout the day...kind of like a soap opera. The trick is each entry can only be about 140 characters. I have learned to convey much in a few words. My twitter name is "musingsfromme"

I LOVE Facebook! It's a supreme time waster, though. The best part is finding and chatting with kids I taught who are now adults with families.

Want another friend?

Totally agree about Facebook! I have had the best time reconnecting with COMPLETELY random people from my past. I signed my husband up, too, but he wisely spends his time on more important things, so now I check his page and mine. NOT a smart move on my part.

hah, hah--I'm off to my Facebook page to find you!

Although, apparently the 4 boyfriends I had in school are all non-computer-savvy. Hope that means their all bald, too. Nah, just kidding.

I find the computer is much more fun than all the other things that need to be done. So, facebook just gives me another excuse for not doing laundry!

Krisite, I just joined Facebook too. Saw your reply and wanted to touch base with you and your sight! I don't believe that you of all people are not organized. Unless I see it I won't believe it. Miss you and love reading your blog.

Don't worry -- the initial excitement wears off once you've "found everyone" you can -- then maybe in 6 months you'll get another rush when you search again and more people have joined!!

I bit the bullet and joined Facebook this summer as well. I don't use it like a lot of people, but it is fun to find old friends and classmates. And I figure one of these days my kids will have a facebook page, so I might as well figure it out.

I originally got on Facebook to keep an eye on my teenager. As more and more of my friends from high school "found" me, I got more and more addicted!

I will send you a friend request:)

Okay, I must really be in a time warp! Facebook?? Never heard of it.
But then, my Halloween stuff is still packed up from last year, and
my house is a mess, I do however have laundry done!

Welcome to the facebook addicts club. UGA was one of the first schools to join my senior year, and I'm still addicted 4 years later.

Oh this is SUCH a time killer? Have you adopted a Fluff Friend? Because there is Fluff Friend trick-or-treating right now, the primary goal of which is to collect imaginary treats by knocking on the imaginary doors of countless animalistic strangers. Good times, good times. I cannot pull myself away until I win the reward for collecting 100 treats! My kids want to sit here and click the mouse for me until they find a treat!

On the redeeming side, we are hoping it will be a good contact vehicle in another year when we start planning our 25th hs reunion.

Donna said...

Umm, that first sentence of mine was not supposed to be a question. Yes, indeed it is a time killer.

I haven't been to Facebook because I assumed it was just another myspace. After reading your message, I just may have to check it out!

I recently discovered Facebook too (about 1 month ago)!!! I agree, it's very addicting but I have enjoyed reconnecting with long lost friends! Have fun!

I was a MySpace Only girl for years - wouldn't even THINK of using Facebook. Then I got an invitation to join a couple of months ago, so I looked around...and now I'm hooked. I still use MySpace for my blogs, but I think I love Facebook and all of its socialization capabilities, an eency weency bit more. Don't tell MySpaces Tom (grin).

Oh dear, I joined facebook to reconnect and it wasn't long before the addiction set in.
