Blaine: So what part about moving home are you looking forward to? What excites you the most?

Kristie: Ooooh, that’s a tough one. There’s so many. Oh! I know! The sub sandwiches from City Bites. Man, I love those. I’m going to eat there for dinner every single night the first week we are home.

Blaine: Yep, they do have some good sandwiches there.

Kristie: Oh, and Braums, too! Every night after the subs we are going to go there so I can get *real* ice cream; two scoops of chocolate almond on a cake cone -- my favorite! I miss Braums soooo much!

Blaine: Anything else?

Kristie: Oooh, yeah. The cinnamon rolls from Grandy’s. I’m going to buy a dozen the first day back so we can have them for breakfast every morning.

Blaine: I can’t help but notice everything you brought up is food related. You didn’t mention your mom, sister, or nephews on your “favorites” list.

Kristie: Well, a girl’s gotta have her priorities.

Pause.

Blaine: And how is it you’re always surprised when you look in the mirror and see the size of your ass?

Kristie: Zip it, skippy.

OK, so that last part didn’t take place OUT LOUD. But I know he had to be thinking it in his head!

No way would Blaine say that. You forgot to mention that you'll be 3 hours from your dear friend!!!!

I know what you mean! Chris and I recently had a discussion about our 10 day France/Luxemburg/Belgium/Amsterdam trip and all we talked about was the FOOD! We reminised about the omelettes with that WONDERFUL cheese at Pegasus Bridge, the pizza in Bastonge the steaks in Arnem the beer in Germany, the beer in Amsterdam the beer...Oh sorry, going back down that road again!

This is all so true - my brother was in the Air Force - everytime he came home, across the country or the glove, all he talked about was getting the local pizza, then Hamburger Station hamburgers - never the people he was glad to see :) I guess guys have priorities too. It's funny the things you remember.

LOL Kristie--- As long as you don't freak out because of the things he says to you in your head.
Ever have a dream and wake up mad at Blaine because of something he did in it?

Oh man a Grandy's I didn't know they were still around. Tim and I would go there quite often when we lived in Kansas, they have great Chicken Fried Steak and Fried Okra. Ya know we were actually talking about their rolls awhile back wishing there was one close so we could go get some. May just have to take a trip south and find one

I'm so thankful God put my ass in the back so I can't see it.

I hid a pint of Hagen Daz butter pecan ice cream in the freezer....I can't wait for 10 a.m. to roll around so I can have it for lunch because I NEVER have ice cream for breakfast.

I understand completely. I get off the plane in Georgia and drive straight to Chick-Fil-A! At some point, I'll hit Cracker Barrel too. When I go to Dallas, I run for Cane's and any Tex-Mex place. Oregon is beautiful, but the food here sucks.

LOL...your move is the same day as mine!!! Of course, I'm moving from South of the DFW metroplex to the North side, so it's "local." However, that means that we'll be 3 hours or less apart! We have a restaurant here that has to die for cinnamon rolls (Ginger Brown's). I'll grab them on the way (it's between my soon-to-be house and your soon-to-be house.) You have the Diet Dr Pepper waiting, and we'll sit back and watch the movers unload and pretend they're cute boys with exotic names getting your domocile ready, k? Hey, it sounded good!

I am the same way! When I talk about a place, I talk about the food. My husband and I have a few places to hit here in AZ before we move to Scotland. Plus we stop in CA to visit family before we leave so I am planning on eating Round Table pizza all 3 days we are there!

Last time you talked about Sonic and Chik-Fil-A and before that you talked about some awesome pizza places.

Now it's all these cool places in OK.

I don''t live in the middle of nowhere. I'm in a suburb of San Francisco. We don't have ANY of those cool places. I'm so stinkin' jealous!

I smiled reading your post today. My family is from the Wichita Falls area (not too far from where you are moving to in Oklahoma, I think) and we do the same thing when we fly into Dallas. We have to go to El Fenix, our favorite Mexican food place, and our favorite hamburger place in Wichita Falls, called Gene's Tasty Burger. It's worth your trip if you ever get to Wichita Falls! But I SO agree with you about Grandy's and Brahms. I don't care how full I am when I leave Wichita Falls to drive back to Dallas to catch the plane (we live in Atlanta), I stop at Brahms and get a vanilla ice cream to eat on the road back - there is nothing else like it. I would pay good money to start one of those here, but I've said the same thing about El Fenix. I'm excited for you going home - I hope it's all you dream for.

OMG, that's the funniest thing I've heard all day!!!!!! The comments are all great, too!!

When we cross the border from Canada to the US, there are certain places we have to hit, too....Cracker Barrel, Chilis, CARABBAS!!!!!!!!! Mmmm, I can taste them all right now!
Now that our dollar is so amazing, I think we might be in for some day trips just to eat!

Kristie you made me soooo hungry....I used to live in Norman, OK and City Bites was our after church lunch stop - you have to send me one their veggie melt subs on sun dried tomato bread (it's veggies so it's good for you). Braum's, oh man, every Wed night that's where we went after church - not only is their ice cream fab, they have great burgers too! You named my 2 fav places in OK!!!!! :) Great minds think alike!

I have 2 more words for you about OK - Taco Cabana! In Norman they built a Super Wal-Mart and in the parking lot they put a Taco Cabana and a Krispie Kreme - no need to leave. ever.

Will you be near OKC? If so there's a great little ecletic place called The Grateful Bean - I can't tell you how to get there but it's great! :)

Kristie,
Your post made made me so hungry - but food is what comforts all of us. We KNOW our family will be there! We just want that cozy food to give us the energy to go battle all of those mounting moving boxes!!!!!
Good luck.

Oooooh! I LOVE Braums. They have the best *real* ice cream, and it reminds me of my childhood. Too bad, I have to drive for 3 hours for the nearest location. (Not gonna happen). When you get there, have a scoop for me :)
